The 1C's are one of the best of the SDA lineup...I'm not disapointed that I have them at all.

I just think the 2B's would be a better match in my small listening room...plus I could swap out the upgraded x-overs and tweeters that I currently have in my CRS's

That's a fact...I wish I afford all of them,as this won't happen again for quite some time.

Mike, for some reason I thought you were on the "Tiger" side of the state in St. Louis? I think you might be starting to see some of the KC activity just because of the "SDA cycle of life". There were only two dealers that I knew of in KC / Overland Park (Brandsmart & Audio Electronics at 95th & Nall). Both died in the 90's so it's about the 20 year mark. The economy, older folks downsizing to smaller places, etc. all contributing. They may continue to come out of the woodwork.

Marty,I'd say that you are exactly right...the 1C's I just picked up came from an Estate sale...I guess these times are good for us old Audiophools that still crave the SDA series.

I live in N.W. Mo. about an 1-1/2 hrs. N.E. of K.C. I've been to the Bransmart store several times over the years, until they closed...a big Best Buy right down the street, along with good ole C.C. put them under...shame.

I remember Brandsmart. Great local chain. Uncle Rick was my favorite salesman, he gave me some killer deals. And he was a big fan of Polk. He told me about a visit he made to Polk HQ and got to meet Matt. He took Rick on a tour of the facility and amazed his guest by knowing several assembler type employees by name. Even asking about family members who were sick or inquiring about families' new arrivals.
Hate to see businesses like that go under; where employees do more than just sell you something. They're part of the hobby (addiction).

Not to prolong the thread (like the emo one) but you're right stubby, Uncle Rick absolutely loved Polk's - especially the SDA-SRS models, and you could get deals from him. I ordered 2.3's in 1989 because they didn't have any walnut ones in stock. He loaned me a floor pair until mine came in - and then found out the ones that came in were 2.3TL's which had the price increase. Rick said "what the hell, just take em' and enjoy". Nice.

Unfortunately, in the mid/late 90's Brandsmart fell into the trap a lot of "local" dealers did. They started carrying "B" stock but forgot to tell people. Word got out, Best Buy and CC opened a few more stores, etc. They stopped hiring people like Rick and went to the full-commission teenager-type salesperson with the "today, and today only" deal, watts-per-channel knowledge base, and ShamWow delivery. End of the road.
