Can someone tell if these have been mod or not?
All the early SDA1's i have seen have 2 tweeters across the top. Did they make a model with only one?

Cheers

They're most likely stock. The ones with the one tweeter are more desirable, as the dimensional tweeter wasn't the best design and was removed in the later SDAs.

They have been modified. The early SDA1's had two tweeters side by side, the later 1's had two tweeters one above the other. So they all have two tweeters. You can see where he blocked the original tweeter holes. You can also see the original layout in the picture of the manual he has posted.

Those are modified. Someone deleted the dimensional tweeter and then put wood caps over the cut out. If done right (x-over too) they probably don;t sound half bad.

Calling them "5-way" leads me to believe this seller really doesn't know squat about the speaker and probably either didn't touch the x-over or did it all wrong. Just deleting the tweet w/o making specific mods to the x-over = Kabuki speakers.

Bid as at $319 US dollars. The SDA 1s always screw with me, except for the Cs.

These are the SDA 1A's I modified, if you read the SDA 1A.1TL Mod on this forum you will find that they were done correctly, I'm amazed this wasn't picked up earlier instead of assuming. The person I gave them to doesn't know their specifications, he only saw 5 speakers and assumed that they were 5 ways, not everyone is a Polk genius.
The reason why I got rid of them was I had to decide between having Altec A7-500's or the SDA's both are very particular in set-up. Overall I have always been a horn man but found that the Polks were great also, it was a tough call but hopefully one day I might pick a set of the larger SDA's.
I wish to thank everone on the Polk site for their help and hopefully we will talk again - bye for now.

    PS
If you look at one of the pictures on the Ebay page you will notice my monika.

Hey, wasn't trying to insult you.........perhaps if the seller had added the info you put in your post then no one would have assumed. Why would I spend time searching the Polk forum when nothing about these were mentioned as far as being done here or having threads related here or a connection here.

Perhaps he could have consulted you before listing possibly increasing the odds of selling a "modified" Polk speaker.
