Looking to snatch the wife away for a long weekend before we both get crazy with work and stuff.Things that are a must,...warmth,beach....so Florida seems it.Question is,looking for some suggestions on where to stay on the east coast? First couple weeks in April, yeah,I know, the spring break dopes will be out,but hey,ya do what ya gotta do.Looking for romantic, not screaming kids, type of places.Since we only have 4 days, the keys are out, maybe somewhere around Lauderdale,Boca? Any of you resident sun shiners have any recommendations ?

I have a little place on Daytona Beach if you are interested. I'm really not sure of the current status (my father rents it for me, and I'm not sure when the current tenant is out), but if you are interested, I may be able to get it for you. It's just a studio (old motel converted to condos), but it's on the beach on the south end of Daytona, so it's fairly quite. Mostly older folks, and usually half empty so you won't find many kids. It's also on the first floor, so you don't even have to step into the building (I usually wake up, slide on some shorts, and walk out to the beach). I can't promise anything, but let me know if you are interested and I can check if it could be available.Denon AVR-3803

gd..i have been there..4 yrs ago for the year 1 anniversary:eek:...it's at the very start of the keys..that will save you a very long 150 mile drive..it's away from the hustle/bustle of the lower keys...best of all, tho: it's still in the keys! lots of laid back, tall drink, no watch-no phone, sunset lovin, put a good buzz on, FUN! the locals are a real treat to talk to as well!

if you decide to go to florida. make sure you count your changes. Floridians has poor counting
if you ever go to ft myers, go to bar louises resturant where my brother is flying in tomorrow to remain there for 2 months and supervise his district resturants. His name is Johnny brown and ask for him, tell him his brother refered the resturant and you probably get free appetizers and few drinks on the house.I am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding! Why am I here? My wife's hearing!

Tony,
Let me know if you are going to the Lauderdale,Boca area, that is where I am and maybe can help. When we look for a getaway, we sometimes go to Melbourne, which is a nice quiet town. We are going to have a short holiday soon and staying in the area. The Breakers is really nice but mega $.

Lots of good idea's guy's,the keys was my first choice, but due to the extra travel time, and only having 4 days,I dunno.Keep in mind I'm looking for sand,on a beach, not sand in the desert.Romantic, quiet, beach, and damn it,I've been jones'n for a fresh grouper sandwich at a ocean side speakeasy for a year now.Money is not as important as atmosphere, and quiet surroundings.Part of the problem also,is I have these 2 vouchers for free air I have to use soon or loose it.They only fly to FT Meyers,Palm Beach,Lauderdale.I know I can hop a boat ride to the keys from Meyers, but that tacks on 4 hours each way, know what I'm saying? So to keep it simple and have the most time on the beach, and other things, maybe Boca,Lauderdale area's might be more up my alley.HT SYSTEM-

I fly into Ft. Meyers when I go to Marco, and it's only a little over an hour drive from the air port. Maybe it's just me because I've never been there, but I don't picture Lauderdale as being quiet and romantic.Speakers: Polk LSi15

If you're going to be down there around spring break time I'd look to find someplace on one of the middle keys. I've stayed on Marathon Key before, and it's just a 7 mile bridge trip to Bahia Honda St park, that has one of the best rated beaches in the country, and the good news is it's pretty quiet. My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I have been to St. Augustine twice in the last few years, a nice place to visit and some cool stuff to do (helicopter rides, horse and buggy, etc.) We like it near Christmas because the whole place is decorated. Boca/Lauderdale will not be the most quiet places, depends on your mood. I think you now need to just spend a month here and see it all.
Too bad you are not coming sonner, there is a local audio meet on March 7th.

I lived in st.augustine before, its nice and you can drive to few nice beaches nearby. I havent visit there for about 6 years now. Last time, it was changed a bit but nothing else. Good relaxing and quiet place to visit historic place. yea there are tourists, not college teens flashing their shirts.
Famous fort, and beaches. its right there by daytona. You also can go to Gainesville and buy me some Albert, the gator stuffI am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding! Why am I here? My wife's hearing!

+1 on St Augustine. My family is from Florida, so I generally think the whole state sucks, but St A is a cool town.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
