Your new car may be out of alignment

So we hired someone to call customers who installed tires recently to come in and get their alignment checked for free. If the alignment is in spec, they go home with a printout, if it's not, they have the option to do the alignment at $59.95 or any other service that may be required.

You'd be surprised at how many new cars are out of alignment. I strongly recommend that anyone who buys a new or nearly new car go straight from the dealer to an independent shop to check the alignment. Don't wait, if too much time elapses, the dealer may refuse to do any work under warranty.

Some of our customers that did go back to where they purchased the car were refused to have the problem corrected under warranty, citing that the cause was from the bad roads or hitting an obstacle.

You may think that an alignment at $59.95 is not a big deal, and it's not, if it's only basic adjustments. But some cars need special shims or cam bolts that can bring the cost of an alignment up to a couple of hundred bucks or more.

Just a friendly public service announcement to the Polk family.

Better yet, ask the salesman to go for a "victory lap" after you sign the papers. Then pull it straight into the service bay and have the alignment checked. You now have a witness that any misalignment was not caused by you.:D
