50 inch plasma PN50A650. Yea, I would have liked a Pioneer or a 58" but this was what the budget allowed. Just doing my part to stimulate the economy.
I'll post thoughts about the TV when I get it and get it set up.

    Nice set man!
You can't go wrong with Samsung TV's in my honest opinion.

I looked at Panasonic and LG but the picture quality on this one just stood out to me. This series, 650, has had good reviews everywhere.

I actually was just checking out this same set a couple weeks ago. I watched part of iRobot on it at an A/V store...and the picture quality on it was badass. I was very impressed with it.

I'll hopefully be getting a new TV around the end of this year once I have my audio upgrades kind of squared away. Right now it's basically between Samsung and Panasonic. I'm just going to get a measly 37 incher though...Or something in that area anyway.

    Thanks all,
I'm excited about getting it. I did a lot of research and of course had to get the buying office (girlfriend's) approval. I saw it and several other displays in stores and for the money the Samsung was the winner. I did like the Pioneer and the Sony LCD looked pretty good too. Again, for the money this was hard to beat.
    MrNightly,
I got it for $1450 delivered.

Now I just hope I'm done buying for a while. I've got all the Lsi series speakers, an Emotiva amp, a HK receiver, BR and HD DVD players. I'll just have to pass on the new Emotive processor when it comes out.

Congrats! I'm looking at the PN50A550 (may need a 46" due to sizing issue). How did the Samsung compare with the Panasonic Viera's? I was looking at this...

Enjoy and thanks for the feedback!

All I can address now is what I saw in stores and like you have read on the web. The Panny does blacks better while the Sammy does almost everything else better. I feel the Sammy has a sharper and brighter picture. The Panny was too dark and looked muddy to me. You never can tell how the stores have them set up though
I'll post more after I get the set and get some time on it.

I have one big question. How bad is the heat coming off of it? I fear Texas August weather + 50" plasma.

    Thx

    I don't have it yet.
I do have a 42" plasma now and it's pretty warm right against it but I don't think it adds much heat to the room. It gets pretty hot here in Atlanta in the summer too.
