Just listened to a new DVD-Audio disc from aixrecords " The Jim DeJulio Jazz Quintet" 96khz/24bits/5.1 This high resolution recording has "stage", "audience", and stereo mixes with video of the recording session. If you're into jazz and own a DVD-Audio player it's a must.
Also SACD Al Jarreau " All I Got" Excellent

jmasterj,
did you get them online or stores (bb, virgin, tower), Jim DeJulio? thanks....I am a big fan of Jarreau, but not his latest one ("All I Got") It's not even close to what I think was marginal ("Tomorrow Today") Needless to say, it wasn't on par compared to the last great one ("Tenderness")....imo thanks.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
First question,
www.aixrecords.com is where you find out about The Jim DeJulio Jazz Quintet DVD-Audio disc. They are not equiped to handle on line sales yet but you can call in orders, and see the catalog. Get the phone number at the site. You might just want to get the sampler first. I own DVD-Audio disc from Warner Bros. and the aix disc just sound better to me. You should take a listen for yourself and decide. If you do let us know what you think.
Now as for Al I thought "Tomarrow Today" was typical Al Jarreau and I liked it. Sorry you didn't. Now on first listen to "ALL I GOT" I liked "Random Act of Love" Now the more I listen the more I like the rest of it. I admit he has changed since the classics like " All Fly Home"," Look To The Rainbow" , and" This Time" but to me he still sings rings around almost anybody out there. What other jazz do you listen to?

jmasterj,
thanks for the info on Aixrecords. I went to their site, and I supposed I have to order them online. I like to listen to mainly standard, from Miles to Joe Sample, and on the vocalist, from Mel Torme, Ella, to Michael Franks, Al, Eden Atwood, Ana Caram, Diane Schuur, etc. I've been hooked on collecting reissues of classic jazz performances on SACD.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
