Subwoofer connections?

I just purchased the RM7650 system. My Sony system only has one RCA output connector for the sub woofer, but the Polk sub woofer has a L & R connector. Do I need to get a splitter to connector to both L & R connectors?

No, you can just hook up to one of the inputs on the sub. LFE signals are mono signals, so only one of the inputs is needed.

You can use a Y-adapter if you want, but it's not necessary.

By the way, welcome to Club Polk.:)

    Hi M
If you happen to already have a Y splitter, I would try it to compare with just the single cable in to the sub. But, the single cable should be fine, so I wouldn't spend any extra money for a Y cable.

Does your Sony have pre-amp outputs. These connections on the sub are for connecting it to your AVR/pre-amp via the pre-amp outputs, L/R. Generally, this is preferable since using the LFE output requires setting your speakers to small, and this introduces filters into the circuit to extract the low freq signal, which can degrade the sound quality. All the energy needed for the sub is in the front pre-outs.
