Looking to get something a little better than the Stanton 500.V3 that came with my table, looking for something geared towards an audiophile. Not looking for anything too over the top, something that is a quality mid range cart.

    for the $ I would suggest a denon dl160.

    Lots of good options out there; I like Dynavector and Benz (just because they are the only ones I've tried...).
    It all depends on your budget, and what kind of phono preamp/stage you have (MM, MC, gain, impedance, etc).

    Ortofon (OM and 2M Series) and Goldring (1000 or Eroica series) make nice midrange carts. I have had good experience with both brands.

    Shure labels their $140 list M97xE as an "Audiophile" cartridge, but at the bargain price of $55 delivered from amazon.com, I'm not sure most perceive it to be.

    I have been happy with mine compared to a Shure Me95ED, Shure M97HE, Micro Acoustics QDC-1, Micro Acoustics 2002e and Ortofon OM20.

    Yes. What is your budget for a cartridge? I'm sure if you let people know what you are looking to spend, they can narrow it down to 2-3 best deals in your price range.
