Will this work? Old Sony receiver and Ascend CMT-340 SE?

Purely judging from the specs, it seems to be an acceptable match.
The Sony TA-AV561 runs at 8 ohms and I THINK it runs at 120W for the main two channels. But I don't know if I am interpreting their document correctly. Could someone verify?
The Ascend CMT-340 SE seem to be at an average 8 ohm load with a 35W-240W continuous power load.

To be honest with those specifications I dont think anyone would call that receiver 120 watts continuous per channel in stereo. But, if you are only driving a pair of CMT-30 SEs in stereo that receiver should be OK. With the CMT-30s reasonable nominal impedance, and good efficiency I dont see too much of a problem.

Damn. That's terrible. So basically you're saying I need to go out and buy a proper amp? Oh well. Time to explore some stereo or monoblock amps!SDA 1C, SDA 2A, SDA SRS 2, CMT-340SE, Swan M200MKII, Swan D1080MKII, Behringer MS40

If you already own the Sony TA-AV561 you should give it a shot first before throwing more dollars at the system. If you are asking us if buying the Sony TA-AV561 is good choice for driving a pair of Ascend CMT-340 SE Im pretty certain 99.9% of the forum would vote no. There are many stereo receivers on the market today that would do a very respectable job of driving them without going into separate stereo, or mono-block amplifiers. -
Ah. Ok thanks! No, I already own the Sony due to a Sony set purchase several years back. Now the speakers don't work so I am scavenging what I can.
I will attempt a try with these first. But I really like the looks of the Adcom GFA-555.SDA 1C, SDA 2A, SDA SRS 2, CMT-340SE, Swan M200MKII, Swan D1080MKII, Behringer MS40
