I have monitor speakers on stands and was wondering if the MIT shotgun network boxes are too heavy to just dangle from the speaker inputs?

I had mine "hanging" from my monitors and the cable bent pretty hard at the terminations; not sure how much stress this could be, but if you can find something to reduce the weight, do it. I thought of attaching the boxes to the stands (tape, rubber bands, anything), but never did it.

I have MIT Shotgun S1's and had the tails made longer so the network box sits on the floor. Too heavy IMO.

Unless you're hooking them up to cheapo speakers, it shouldn't be a issue. And then again, it wouldn't be your only issue either.

I'm thinking that might be best.

When I tried to Velcro mine to the cabinet, it put more strain on the binding posts by forcing a more dramatic curve in the wires at the banana clips. If your binding posts are solidly installed they should be able to handle the weight of the network boxes.

I've got a pair of MIT's hanging off the back of my office monitors. Been like that for years with no problems.

Call or email MIT to be sure, but I'll bet hanging is OK.
