Help with RM-6880 package with TEAC AG-D8900 settings!

Hi, I am pretty new to home theater systems and speakers but I have an old TEAC AG-D8900 receiver and decided to get some speakers for it. So I bought the RM-6880 package and so far am very pleased with their sound and quality. I do want to get the most out of them and have them set at the proper settings. So with my amp I would like to know what settings should the speakers be at for optimal performance? And I am not familiar with crossover frequency and how to set it yet with my receiver. Please Help.

THANKS
- Chris:)

Not familiar with the Teac, but you would want to cross all those speakers over on the high side. If you can select it I would say probably around 90-110 Hz. You may only have a large/small or full range/small option in this case just go with the small setting. Do you have the manual? It should give you set ups for speakers.
Good luck and welcome to CP

Yeah from what I see, I can either put the front, center and surround speakers to large or small. And I can turn the sub off and on, and when the sub is on I can also change it from large to small. I can also change the setting on all speakers and sub from -10 to +10 but from what I know this only makes it louder or quieter and I am not sure if this has anything to do with the crossover frequency?? Thanks for the reply.

You would want to use the small setting for your speakers. Some AVRs would also allow you a little more control and you could use to make a finer adjustment beyond what the "small" setting uses. Does that AVR have an auto cal. feature of some kind? That may tweak the crossover to fine tune it to your speakers. You are correct the +/- settings adjust the volume output for each speaker individually.

Not sure what the large small setting on the sub is for........ it also would probably give you a little control over the sub crossover. Do you have the manual? Look for a section on "Bass Management" they may call it something different. How do you have the sub connected? What sub do you have, was it part of the package? I am taking a SWAG you would want the "small" setting for the sub also, but I never have seen this option for a sub setup before. It might be crossover or something they are using for sub + mains, or something to give you the sub in a 2 ch. setting, with out the manual or someone who knows this AVR it's all just guessing at this point.
