ESW12 and TX-SR304

I have an Onkyo TX-SR304 AV Receiver and recently purchased an Element Electronics ESW12 Subwoofer for setting up some surround sound. Alas, nothing is easy. The documentation that came with the ESW12 is sparse, at best. There is no diagragm showing any hookup options, just text with 2 options, neither which will work with my setup. The receiver has a subwoofer connection (rca jack) for a powered subwoofer. The subwoofer has 4 rca jacks, 2 each for input and output left and right connections.. No help there.
The other option is connecting the speaker outputs of the receiver to the sub via the left and right speaker in connections. Now, if I connect the front speaker wires to the sub speaker, how do I then connect them to the front speakers so I can get sound out of them? If the "B" speaker connections are done as recommended and are selected the receiver defaults the "A" speaker setup to 2.1, thus no surround. The receiver also doesn't recognize the sub in the system when connected to the "B" terminals.
I went to the Element Electronics website and they don't even have any speakers there. The speaker came in their box with their logo, name, everything, but they don't support the product in any way. All they do is refer you to Circuit City.
Hopefully someone can help me with this connection problem. I am hoping that I don't have to buy a new receiver just to take advantage of my sub! Thank you.
