Hey guys I just wanted some advise on this set up for my Dodge Dakota that I have been putting together. Here is whats going in it.

Two front speakers are Polks MM6501.
Single rear sub is Polks MM2154D
The amp is Polks PA1100.5
And I'm hoping the Head unit will be Pioneers Deh-P6100BT it has a 3-band parametric EQ.

The amp seems to be rated for low ohms so I am probly going to wire the sub for 2 ohms.
Any and all advice is welcome,so feel free to say anything.

I've certainly mentioned that one to him, but it's a bit out of his price range.

A third vote for the 880prs or the high end alpines. Point is when you are spending so much $$$ on speakers and amps, you should have a HU that gives you the ability to get the max out of your speakers and amp. Its like putting a speed regulator on a porsche. The porsche will still run but youre not getting the most out of it. A good HU should allow you max tuning options. Time alignment, choice on xovers and slopes and atleast 10-12 individual frequencies that you can adjust. The eq on the 880prs allows you to tune 16 frequencies independently for left and right chanels.

Also on the amp I would suggest i/o the 1100.5 go with the 500.4 and a mono block 600.1 for the sub. Your sub will get more power.

Also consider bi-amping your fronts. I have just gone bi-amped on my momo's with a 500.4 amp and its so sweet. There is a thread here "sq steps" check it out if you're looking to bi amp. It also has some great info on tuning, time alignment, install and lots of answers to dumb FAQ's from newbies like me.

    good luck

He already has the speakers and amp, so definitely sticking with those. And I'm hoping I've convinced him to biamp, though I'm not sure what is thoughts are on it right now.

The two front speakers and amp came from a store called Tweeter that was going out of business so I got them both brand new for 500$ and the sub is coming from Crutchfield.com they are buy one get one free for 150$, so if you ask me I'm racking up pretty good. I might get away with just under 1000$ for all my equipment.

I am not a fan anymore of car stereo.

After having 2 expensive setups stolen and realizing no matter how much I spend it is still bouncing sound off plastic and glass I think you should save your money and invest more in a good home setup.

well, my stock stereo is practically dead, im in college when not at home and when at home the dad has an amazing home theater setup that I can enjoy. ill invest when I have a home to invest in, right now im driving pretty much everywhere and I love to drive, ill take a 12hr+ drive over a short flight anytime.
I love to drive and I love music and I love to share.

the box just depends on what u like. i prefere mine to produce really low notes and have 1 12" in a slot loaded 4.2 cu/ft box and it pounds.

Yeah, I second the sealed route.

I think he was more of asking about where to look to buy one, what specs to look for in one (probably enclosure size, etc).

Besides, I'm 13 hours away from him now and will be until the system's installed. As for him putting one together...I'm guessing he probably could.

Im kinda cramped on time for all of this, Im only going to be home 10 days in march to pick it all up and put it in the truck, then I got to drive 13 hrs to get back to school and become completely swallowed in school work again. So if it comes down to it ill do the box myself but more than likely I will find some one else to do it or buy a box.
So if you guys have any suggestions on what the dimensions should be just let me know.
Thanks for all the help. I like it here.

Hey what does anyone think of me putting the 2 fifteens in and could I run both at 1 ohm since thats what the amp is pretty much made for, there 4 ohm DVC subs so I could just hook it up to run both at 2 ohms. Let me know.
