You didn't say which Windows OS you are running, but here is a link specifically for XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305

It's all the same though, there really is no way to log on without the password or a backup disc containing it. And think about it, would you want an easy hack, perhaps for a thief to use so he could easily open up your computer and see whatever it is you thought was worth protecting?

You'll probably have to reinstall your Windows OS from the original disc. This will blank out the password file so you can reassign once the reinstall is complete.

    hi

There is a program called ERD Commander which will help you with this problem...First you will need to get it by downloading it from somewhere. I have the program and can transfer it to you online. If you come into Yahoo Chat ( computers lobby 3), will get the program to you. I have the same nicname (renowilliams), in yahoo as well.

If you're running windows XP, it is likely that your administrator password isn't set. Reboot your computer and keep on hitting F8 while it's booting until a menu pops up and offers you the option to load windows up in 'Safe Mode'.

After Windows boots up to the login screen, choose Administrator. Wait for windows to boot up. Goto the start menu and right click on 'My Computer' and goto Manage
from there, you should see an option on the left indicating users. Click on it and you should see your user name in the main window. Right click on it and select 'Set Password' and change your password.

Reboot and try not to forget it again ;)

You can install Windows without setting an administrator password?

    Talk about a security hole.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Windows has never been known for its security. One of the many reasons I use linux.
