I've recently purchased an RM85 system and I trying to find height adjustable metal floor standing speaker stands for the RM7's and RM8's that are in the system. I didn't like the design of the ones offered by Polk Audio and I'm looking for recommendations.

Here are the ones that I bought. http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/speaker-foundations/sp-home-theater/HTB3 I have the rm95 system.
They were 35$ a pair at walmart. They are actually pretty heavy, and stable. I have a 2 year old boy and he hasn't knocked them over yet. If he really wanted to he could, but a little bump here and there hasn't done it so far. They don't look as good as the ones that polk are selling, but they don't look bad either. They serve their purpose well and their 100$ a pair cheaper.

The speakers mount very solid, but you have to improvise a little to get them on there. It's not hard, and if you get them you will see what I mean. One piece of advice if you purchase these. Don't use the stick on padding that comes with them, to cushion the bottom of the speaker. The rm8's just don't set right on it, and if you take it off, they set perfect.

I was wondering if those would work. I see from the manual on the sanus site that they have different ways to attach to speakers. Did you need to use the plastic mounts that came with the speakers at all?

No, you don't need them at all. The stands come with 3 kinds of mounting plates. One of them is a flat plate, that the rm's will set right on top of. Then you just use the screw that would normally hold either the little bookshelf stands, or mounting brackets that come with the speakers, straight through the mounting plate, and into the bottom of the speaker.

You don't have access to the wires, so you have to hook up the speaker wire first. You can make it so that the plate doesn't pinch the wires though. The stands actually work well, for such odd shaped speakers.
They look better then the pictures on their site too. They have a very dark black finish, that's kind of textured. I was very happy with them, especially for the price. I couldn't believe I found something at walmart, for such odd shaped speakers.

Anyway, I haven't tried out very many speaker stands in my time, but these certainly worked well with the rm's. I really can't see anything being better for the money.
