I have to assume that young Ben will still be alive - most likely the Island brings him back to life. If so, and he remembers Sayid shooting him as a child, it certainly explains why Ben treats Sayid like he does in modern days (as a cold-blooded killer, basically).If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

In my opinion you only truly die when off of the island. If you die while on the island you will reappear later on. Take John, Ben shot him and left hoim for dead but he returned. Later, he died/murderd by Ben while away from the island.[
