So, you have a leaking transmission pan and you don't want to stain your driveway. How do you fix it cheaply? Well this is what we saw today in the shop.

Yep, that's a baking pan tied to the transmission with bits of wire and it comes complete with a pipe fitting welded to the low end in order to drain the oil that accumulates in the pan.

Oh, I nearly forgot to tell you about the most "disgusting" thing that showed up at the shop......guy comes in for an oil change, the tech calls me over and points at the passenger seat....I did a double-take.......there was a big piece of dog **** on the seat! Worse than that, it wasn't even fresh, it's like its been sitting there for a week!

Wow. I wonder what they've been doing their baking in.

    Probably the microwave.

I'll bet that feller was driving home from Ninja school.

And Joe, I suggest the new motto for your shop could be:

That's great... There was a lot of engineering that went into that piece.

All the time spent on that contraption, wouldn't it of been easier to drop the pan and replace the gasket?:D I guess the tranny fluid and filter kit would of cost more than a cooking pan.

I guess I should mention that he had another oil leak from the front crank seal. (duh!) Well for this repair, he wedged some sort of material (unidentifiable) between the splash guard and the crank pulley. The purpose being to "soak up" the leaking oil (kinda like a tampon I guess). I suppose he would change his tampon when it was saturated with oil.

Oh...he was in the shop for a broken belt. I guess he doesn't do his own repairs in the winter.

And no, we didn't even bother to try and sell him any service other than what he asked for.

He's lucky he didn't have it catch in the belt.
My son had some good Lexus repair stories.
You'd think guys driving the more expensive cars
would take better care of them, but not the case.
BTW, ever have to pull a cat out of a serpintine belt?
    Now that's a mess!

We wouldn't work on cars with terribly dirty interiors...you wouldnt believe what some people bring to our shop...but we work on the inside of cars...not the mechanics side.
