Video Editing Software

Looking for suggestions for video editing software for files off my handycam. I think they come off MPEG-2. would like to make the several little files into one bigger file, add tunes, font etc etc..

any ideas?

    The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Final Cut suite. But I'm not sure it's made for windows as I have it on my mac.

    Final Cut's entire line is Mac only. I use Final Cut Pro for editing at work. If you happen to have a Mac, the light version would definitely be the way to go for you.

    If you're looking for PC, Premiere is a pretty good option. They sell a Premiere light and Photoshop light version bundled for around $140.

    On the free end, i've heard good things about Windows Movie Maker. It sounds like the ticket for simple transitions and titles.

    For windows, do a 30 day free trial of Adobe Premiere. My students have started working with the Elements version we got for free with the laptops we bought. It allows you to work with green screens. Movie maker is truly only good for the most very very basic video.
