I'm looking at
http://www.shoponkyo.com/detail.cfm?productid=TX-SR806&modelid=111&group_id=1&detail=2

I'm looking for something that won't leave my RTi's so underpowered, and will also let me keep up with my HDMI needs (I have to use 2 of my TV's HDMI slots right now, along with the 3 on teh 605).

Unfortunately, this is all up to the wife, but i figure she wouldn't hurt me too much if I did some research first.

Lemme know what you think!

Nice system. Alot of forum members think very highly of Onkyo. Have heard real nice thing's about that model, plus it has pre-outs for an external amp. Think it would be quite sufficient for driving your setup. Adding an amp down the road will be a big plus too.

I have the 806 and have nothing but good things to say about it. There have been some issues with some models of the 806 and blue dots being displayed on the screen during playback (but I think it is only if the unit is upscaling an analog signal, not positive though) Onkyo is aware of the problem, but haven't heard anything about a fix. I have all digital signals in and out of mine (all HDMI from PS3 to my Sony TV) and have had no problems with it at all. I am running Monitor 70 fronts, CS2 center, and Monitor 40 surrounds and it has more than enough power to keep all of them "happy" I am considering adding an external amp in the near future, and I'm sure that will only make me happier. I have a soft spot for Onkyo products and have always viewed their receivers as top quality units. I have heard good things about the 805 as well. The 806 is pretty much an "updated" 805 except they took out all the good audio stuff on the 806 and put better video stuff into it. The 806 is supposed to be better for video and the 805 is supposed to be better for audio. Also the 805 still retails for around $700-$800 and they don't have any refurbs on the Onkyo website that I saw. Long story short I love the 806 and would recommend it to anybody looking for a good mid to upper level receiver.

Onkyo 806 available on www.jr.com for 649....extra for shipping. But its new and comes with full two year warranty.

I'd think about it. Though I have to agree the 805 is a bit better for audio...and probably has more power even though they're both rated 130 watts. The 805 weighs as much as an 875/6 and has the same audio guts.

But the 806 is still powerful and a great deal. Right now you can get the 806 refurb from www.accessories4less.com the silver version for 549 and free shipping.

the black version for 599. The site is Onkyo approved. 1 year warranty.
