I convinced my friend NOT to get Bose! He went down to a Circuit City where his girlfriend's brother works and had a listen to the Polk speakers and came home with a set of RTi-150's and a PSW-350! His girlfriend's brother got him a deal. The whole thing only ran him about 800 bucks. Only drawback is he is powering it with a 300 dollar Sony amplfier/reciever. I suppose I can't ask for much more right now but it's nice to know that I my part to convert one of the dark side's minions!

    Good job. I am trying to convince my girlfriend's brother the same thing. He is in love with Bose and Cambrigde Soundworks. He thinks they are the greatest. He came over the other weekend and heard my R40's, and he was pretty impressed by them. That should say something as they are just entry-level speakers too. One by one we shall get them all!

    Any tips on how to influence a daughter that's determined to get "one of those cute little 3-2-1 systems where you don't even need surround speakers" ???

    all i have to say is what a deal!!! How did he pull of 1500.00 buck speakers and a 200 dollar sub for 800.00 bucks?? wow what a deal, Give me that deal and i will be getting some 150's myself..

    He got an employee discount through his future brother-in-law and I don't know how he weaseled the sub but he said he got it for free with the set of speakers he got. He told me 800 bucks for the set, it may have been an exaggeration but I know that with tax and stuff it wasn't too far over a grand.

    I wish I could get the deal myself!

    Um, beatings? Only until her morale improves though!

    If I was her dad, I'd just tell her that she isn't allowed to waste money on such frivilous things! Or, offer to help her out with itif she changes her mind?

    There is always beatings though. They seem to work well when you want to adjust an attitude or do some "convincing" if you know what I mean! ;)



    P.S.: The beatings thing is a joke, please take it that way!

    I recently steered 2 people away from Bose. My buddy wanted a Bose system so bad, as did a mutual friend. I took them to the local A/V store and 2 days and $1600 later he is very happy and won't look back. He didn't get Polks, but his listening taste and receiver left me with little choice in our area. The mutual friend agreed on his system, but I can work with him a little more and fanagel some Polks in on him.
