What surrounds and placement?

Hi All!

I want to upgrade my surrounds... I currently have some old bose that were given to me. I was looking for any RTi bookshelves, but now I started looking at the FXi line. My set-up is listed on my signature. My main question is... Can I place FXi A4 or A6's on the rear wall or should I just place RTi bookshelves on stands to the sides of the couch? What would be the best option?
Layout of the room... It's an open format conected to the kitchen and dinning room...

Thanks in advance...

    No opinions??

Is it ok to have the FXi on the wall behind the couch and to the sides? Or is it better to have the RTi Bookshelves on stands at the sides of the couch?

In a typical 5.1 set-up, your surrounds should be on the side walls and a few feet above ear level when you are sitting down.
For 7.1 you just add the surrounds behind your seating.

I have FXi3's and like them. You could put them on the back wall and set them to bi-pole, and see how you like them. You have a tricky room.

Ever thought about changing the room around?
I had my living room the same for years thinking there was no better way, but when I finally ran all of my wires under the house, my new configuration is way better.

By the way, nice system you got. Enjoy!

Assuming you have very little room at the back, I would go with RTi's on the sides to make it 5.1

That's what I thought too, but how would the FXi wor on the sides, on stands?

I don't have side walls, but I have the speakers on stands on the side and above ear level, What would be a better option RTi's or FXi's on stands at the sides of the listening area?

    I don't have room for a propper 7.1

I'm leaning towards the FXi's I could mount them on the wall to the sides and ablove ear level or on stands at the sides and above ear level... I wonder what would work better... The couch is against the back wall

I have, but I have VERY limited options due to the size of the couch as placement of the fireplace....

Thanks, slowly upgrading.. it's an addictive hobby..

Well I got a great deal on a set of FXi A4 from Polk Audio Direct... Lets see how that goes...

I will try them on stand at the side of the couch, and on the wall.

Thanks to all that shared their .02 cents.
