hi everybody I just found my old carver 390t in my closet after few tracks I was astonished by the quality of it. But since it's a old cd player and it have tube I was wondering if I should change it or do some maintenance (it's nearly 10 years old).

Hi, don't ditch the Carver !!! Check the repair thread at CarverAudio.com (and others!) for info on that unit. If it were mine, I'd send it to Bob Carver himself for repairs or maintenance. Link below-

If all you want is to replace the tube, find what kind it is (via on the tube or schematics) and buy are replacement from Partsexpress, The Tube Store, Tube Depot, ebay, etc.

Zingo....I've got fond memories of going to the drugstore with my father when he used the big tube testers that were a common fixture "back in the day"!! How do tube "addicts" test their tubes nowadays, can it be done at home with simple equipment???

Some people have tube testers and some local shops will let you use theirs. If you can find a simpler way, I'd love to hear it!

That model is actually somewhat rare. You see less of them than the 490t (5 disc platter -vs- single disc). Enjoy!TNRabbit
