Looks like they are the next ones to file. The list keeps growing!

I guess my XRt12 signed by Matt Polk will just be a "trophy case" item now.

    who didnt see this coming?

They have a flawed business model from the start as convincing people to pay for something they get for free is a very tough sell. When you combine that with other options like the entertainment systems with tvs and crap it gets even more difficult. I suggested to them that they find a way of piping video content to vehicles so that they effectively become a direct tv type business for mobile purposes, but to late... now direct tv will possibly buy them out.

where do you get 200 channels for free granite only about 20% of the channels were worth listening to. I agree the 12.95 per month was not worth it to me but the SQ was much better than FM and the music channels have very limited commercials 5.95 per month would have been more within reason. The price was the main reason I discontinued my service well quit paying for it but still getting service. My FM antenna is still disconected talk about commercials what you get about 10 minutes of music per hour.:D

I don't think it's a waste to charge people for radio. To the contrary, free radio ISN'T worth it. Every rock station in the morning has the 'Howard Stern' model on, where these A$$HOLES spend 3-4 hours laughing at their own stupid schtick, then play 2 songs an hour! STFU and play some MUSIC you douchbags!

Thank God for country music stations, where they play.......MUSIC!!!!
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

I cancelled my subscription. But, yes, I hate the big market
BS. The DJ's make soooo much money yukking it up that they
have to run 40% advertising. When Stern came to Dallas in 1992,
the whole local market went stupid. And since big players control all
the radio, their crummy formats are everywhere. There were two
rock stations rotating Led Zep, AC/DC, ZZTop, Van Halen all day
every day. Now it's all talk radio or Spanish staions, with a couple of
urban thrown in. They pulled the local jazz station. How about a nice
rock station that dares to play some deeper cuts or flip sides, and
doesn't hire big name gum flappers? Maybe play 2 songs an hour instead
    just 1?

Question. Since I really liked some of the channels, I renewed my subscription. If they fail and shut down. Do I get my money back?

If they file for protection, it's hard to say. If they screw over
creditors, one thing. IF they screw over paying customers, they are
done. Who's gonna pay a subscription for a year after that?

thinking about cancelling now. Does this mean that the music channels you get with Direct TV will be gone as well?

Had XM for about 5 years now. Hate to loose it, if they go under. It sure makes the 30k+ miles I drive a year easier to take. I have the XRt12 too. I'm hoping they figure something out.

So I guess cable and satellite TV is a flawed business model too?

I've had sirius since its inception and wouldn't trade it for going back to FM radio. I'll gladly pay the 13 dollars a month to have options and good radio for my hour commute each way every day. Apparently, according to some of the "experts", the talks of filing for bankruptcy are to protect their holdings in lieu of the bid to buy from Echostar. With the staellites costing half a billion dollars each, the upfront costs were too much to absorb. If they file for bankruptcy, they can protect their assets for awhile to recoup their losses in the hopes that the 2 billion dollars they generate from subscriptions annually can generate profit eventually. Not sure if that's realistic or not, but I'll keep my subscription until the end.
