Bought an Onkyo 606 before I found this forum, so no preout for me for a while at least...:(
have not purchased any speakers, have read a lot and am thinking of the following:
Rti A5 fronts
CSI A4 or A6 center
FXI A4 surrounds
SVS PB12-NSD sub
I listen to mainly HT, wife listens to a lot of music, mostly classic, low volume
wondering how well the 606 will drive the following
not able to listen to this setup in my area
Thanks for any advice, have enjoyed this forum

You should be fine. The rtia5's and csi a6 are fairly easy to push.

I have a 606 running RTi A3 fronts and an RTi A6 center -- I was going with TC60i surrounds but will probably switch to FXi A6's instead. The speakers sound great.

If your listening area isn't huge, and you aren't a a freak with the volume control you should be fine. Try setting you speakers, and sub to crossover at 80hz if you find you receiver is running out of steam with the mains set a large. 80hz is good for the sub pretty much no matter what the environment.
Enjoy.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Forgot to mention that I don't have a sub yet, so until it comes in I have the RTi's set to full range. They sound great and have a surprising amount of bass reproduction for just 6.5" mid-woofers.
I would still set the 606's crossover for 80hz with a sub just as a baseline then tweak it from there if need be. -
I also just purchased the 606 in January. I then got a pair of RTi A3's for $150 on eBay. Then picked up the CSi A4 from Polk on eBay for $140. Just ordered a Bic Acoustech H100 last night so I can't wait to set it up. But anyways, what I have so far sounds great and I also have the RTi A3's currently running at Full Band. I couldn't be happier with what I have purchased and the deals that I got...now if I can just find a deal on some small surrounds I will be finished with this project and can get on with my life.Mitsubishi WD-52527

Wow...that's almost the exact setup I'm going to be putting together in another month or so. Except I'm going with the older versions of those speakers, the RTi8, CSi5, and I'm also going with the RTi6 bookshelves instead of the di-poles. I'm looking into the same sub though.
The 606 won't have any problems driving those speakers. As with any speaker, they would definitely have some big improvements from external amplification, but you'll do just fine without it. Obviously, externals isn't a possibility because of no pre-outs.
You should be pretty happy with your results once you get it set up.The nirvana inducer-

Just another 606 user. Love the receiver our area is 20 by 18 feet. I have the RTI A3's in the front A4 center and RTI A1's in the rear.
Just added the Velodyne DLS-400R sub. Crossovers at 80Hz and 120hz on the sub at 45% volume it performs very very well.
You can bi-amp the fronts off of the 606 if not using the rear surround speakers I did this for a while but went back to normal on the system did not notice a major difference in sound quality.
Love the combination I purchased the amp a month ago.
Happy shopping that's the best part!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
