..don't think I'll ever own another amp with BJT's. And I'm damn near addicted to Pure Class A.
OK enough already,I don't want to read anymore of this pure Class A propaganda bull s**t you've been peddling.Only because It makes me want my little ZEN back.:DI dearly miss it.:(
This summer is going to be a little scary:eek::)
Yep, the heatsinks I used on my ZEN were a tad undersized for the nearly 2 amps of bias current:eek:.It sure sounded sweet but you couldnt touch it when it was on.

I have one of these hooked to the Aleph

Kill A WATT Electricity Load Meter and Monitor.

And it draw 2 amps at idle and ~180 watts out of the wall socket.

Neat little gadget every audiophile should own. :D

    H9,

I don't know if you are into Vintage stuff. But there are lots of good old Vintage Class A stuff out there. Oldie but goodie. But hardly they are balanced XLR (input) capable but I am content with RCA.

Some nice old gears can be have for cheap and very handy for winter.

If one could call .6 ohms stable drivers an arc welder, I suppose it could be.;)
Maybe you could do a test ,hook up 2 short lengths of 10 guage wire to the outputs and see how long it takes to weld them together. If the fuse blows replace it with a 20amp or bigger.:Dbtw be sure to video the test and share it with us.

:o Have a little pity for my baby, will you? :p I am sure it could be done but I am not going to take my chances to blow something there. You don't know what I've gone through with the seller to get this. :D

0.6ohms, I said. Not DC Short. For AC signal for music, that is. :D But yeah, a moment of DC might be possible but I am sure the protection will kicks in for 99.99% of the time (for dummy like me). ;)

Bendini and ML's ML2? Don't know about Bendini but I've been looking for ML2 for over a year with no luck. Everyone who owns them seems to keep them.

I meant the ML20,20.1 which operates at 100w ClassA.The ML2 would be a nice find aswell.

castles of sand against time cannot stand
liquid mids of the tube rule the land
with highs so sweet your ear candy
lows on the wooly but still dandy.

SS geeks beware the form of ART, its what scares you, always has.

Caught me on this one. ;) ML20 series are just as rare as the Original ML2.

    I love tubes...love my gear.

That said, I think the way to go, as has been discussed many times, is a GOOD tube preamp with a solid state amp.

I've done that a number of times with stellar success. Tube amps are not for everyone....well, they require more careful matching with your speakers.....

Damn, I MISS my CJ MV-75A1.....

Exactly Troy. SYNERGY folks. I have both (tube - 2Ch & SS - HT) and love both.

I liked the somewhat fattened midrange with all tubes on my ESL panels/woofers, but SS amps trumped them with top to bottom coverage and the ability to do high SPL's right. Put me down for a tube pre/digital source/phono, with SS amps in horizontal biamp.
