I forgot I had the demo code for this game. Installed it tonight and played it. First off it was kinda cool because they just throw you in the game. No story to watch nothing.
1) Graphics are incredible. Wow just really nice. Very detailed, everything looked real good. You can tell they have spent a few years on this.
2) The sound...well you guys will be surprised because my sound defaulted to dts. I was shocked as I have not seen a dts game audio since GTA3. And they use it very well. In fact I am not sure how or why they chose it for my system, because when I ended the game I went back to see the audio selections and there was none. Just volume...etc. So the game must see your ps3 audio selection and select the best audio that you have enabled. That is my only theory. Surround is used very well, and it has to be one of the better if not best audio I have heard from a game yet. It's as good as the Rainbow Six series. (Which is the best IMHO.) Voices where standard, and actually it sounded like my squad mates from GOW. It was almost a blatant ripoff.
3) Gameplay is Halo3 meets GOW/Rainbow Six. I know I have compared games like this in the past to the aforementioned games, but that is the only thing I can compare it to. The gameplay feels like Halo, with the mechanics of GOW. If that makes any sense. You do a lot of wall and bunker hiding, but it seems like you can Run and gun at certain times too. The weapons I used were your standard FPS weapons. But fun none the less. Grenades are plentiful, and are deadly when in their radius. Seemed like there were a lot of gas cans/drums around too to blow up. I also found some invisible walls that should not have been there. I was hunting for weapons and ammo, and I was under a bridge, and I should have been able to move between two pillars but I could not. Nothing on the ground, just an invisible wall. It did not take away from gameplay, but I was surprised it was there. I found another one in a building that had a large blown out window that I should have been able to jump through maybe even walk through, but I was not able to. Hopefully they will be removed before the final release. Your squad helps, but they did not seem overly enthused to fight, maybe they were and I was not noticing it, but it seemed like I was doing most of the shooting. I could be wrong on this though. But who wants the AI to kill everyone any ways?
Overall this game is really going to surprise a lot of people I think. I know there has been a lot of hype for it, but man did the first Killzone ever stink. I wish they had a multiplayer map or two to test out, but no go on that. After what I have seen so far I think this is the best game so far for 2009. It's early but it looks, sounds, and plays that good. My only complaint and it is a minor one is the voices.

I downloaded this demo with my European account. The graphics are definitely the best I've ever seen. The feel of the controls took me a little while to get used to. I find there not as easy as COD4, but I'll definitely buy this game when it comes out.7.1 HOME THEATER:

I downloaded the demo with a European account as well, since i didn't reserve the game at gamestop and could not a get a code. My first impressions were not all that spectacular though. I mean the graphics are great, not sure if i'd say that they are the best i've seen though, that might be a bit of a stetch. I'm not a huge fan of the controls on the game either, something just felt off. Maybe i just didn't take the time to actually get used to them though.
But in defense of the game, i only played the demo once, and for about 5 minutes. I'll have to actually sit down with it again and invest a little bit of time, maybe i'll appreciate it more.
The sound was definitely amazing though, i noticed that right off the bat. It sounded like a war zone in my living room. -
Wow I cannot believe there are only 2 responses to this game. This has to be one of the most anticipated ps3 games for 2009.
Interesting. -

Interesting.
If you go to the Playstation area over at AVS, there are plenty of threads and talk about Killzone 2.
I played the game again tonight, and the demo just does not live up to the hype in my honest opinion which is usually the case with over hyped games (i know it's only a demo though and the retail copy could be tweaked). But i'm not a fan of the PS3 controller either, so even that simple thing makes me enjoy a game less. I prefer the 360 controller so much more, it doesn't feel as brittle and cheap. I used to be a PS1 and PS2 guy, but after the Xbox, and Xbox 360 came out, i just can't seem to make myself enjoy that damn Playstation controller anymore lol. Silly? Maybe, but it is what it is...:p -

Not silly at all Metal. The 360 controller is superior over the ps3 one. I think it has been a huge disappointment that they really never made any changes to it when the ps3 came out. I was a ps2 guy too, but when the Xbox came out, and Live got rave reviews, I made the switch. It is one that I have not regretted, but I still think there are good games for the ps3.
As for KillZone I will still get it. I am looking forward to a new game. COD4 and COD5 has run its coarse through me, and I am ready to move on.
With FEAR 2 this week, Killzone at the end of the month, and RE5 next month I think I will be set for gaming for a while....hopefully. -

Well i'm glad it's not just me, in regards to the crappy Playstation controller that never changes lol.
I hear you on the COD4 and COD5, i've played the hell out both of them. I sold COD4 a while ago, and i recently sold COD5. New maps actually just came out for COD5 though so i kind do wish i still had it.
I've been hooked on Fallout 3 lately, though i haven't had much time to play it, but i love that damn game! Also Dead Space is a pretty awesome game that i've been playing here and there. I've got a few others i haven't touched, so i'm not that worried about buying anymore at the moment. Not to say i'll never give Killzone 2 a full blown shot, cause i just may one day.
I've been unusually picky with games as of late. The Fear 2 demo did nothing for me, but i didn't care for the first one all to much either. And the RE5 controls really annoy me. I know they are the same as they have always been, but come on, let me move while i'm shooting for christ sake. I mean you can't even move with the knife, wtf, get with the times Capcom!!! lol Speaking of the RE5 controls though, i read over on AVS that the retail version will have an option in the menu to enable moving while shooting and the like. If that's true, i'll definitely give the game another shot. -

Haha...yeah the whole RE5 not moving deal is getting a ton of bad press. The gun maybe I can see, but the knife...ugh a big fat no for me. I did find the controls annoying, But I found the game to be fun. We will see though. That one will be a 360 pick up for me. -

I totally agree with you but after finishing the demo and really enjoying it I changed my mind. With the style and pace of gameplay in RE5, if you could run and shoot it would take away all those suspenseful moments where I was thinking, O **** should I shoot the guy coming at me with the chain saw or should I run like hell? RE is all about running and making the most of the few chances you have to get a clean shot off. I think they would need to make a ton of other changes to balance out the gameplay if they added running and shooting. It just wouldn't be RE anymore.7.1 HOME THEATER:

The game "might" include two control options, one like the original games and then another like the way Gears of War controls. At least thats what the woman says at the end of this game preview.

Ok, I played MGS4 last night and the game looked pretty good. Nothing really special but anyway I wanted to get it for PC. Can't do, it's PS3 exclusive and so is this. Neither support MKB which means I was not going to buy. Well, noticed FragFX was now available and not sold out...so I went ahead and ordered this, MSG4 and FragFX.
If the FragFX is any good, I might slow down on the PC game purchases and try to use the PS3 more. -

From a Diehard PC fan, I am really starting to enjoy the PS3. It's my first gaming console and honestly, I like all the controls at your fingertips without having to bother with a mouse... never thought I would admit that.
It's actually quite liberating. If the graphics just step up a tiny tad, I would say that they will be on par with the PC. FC2 is quite impressive with the graphics. My dad has it on PC and I on PS3.... I don't think there's that much of a difference.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

What do you give it?
LOL Metal. I actually give it a big fat zero. Only because I am currently at work. What I did see from when my son was playing was actually very nice. The cut scenes were amazing. Very thematic. But again, I am at work so I am going to try to do the whole thing on Sunday. -
What do you give it?
As of now, with one hour game play, I give it a 7. The game controls aren't as fluid as I'm used to with COD, but im sure i'll get into it and enjoy more as i play -
Definintely High Octane Game Play. I don't have HD TV but the graphics look pretty cool with my Dinotelevision set . there is so much going at once that its pretty intense. i could only imagine what this game would be like on a Home Theatre System . i really wouldn't know how to rate it at this point , but im really loving it and all others are on the back burner for now.

Agreed, the game is great but the controls are a little touchy, which I'm sure we will get used to. I find the setting, graphics and gameplay make this game very intense. Feels epic even though there is little to no story (so far).7.1 HOME THEATER:

Not too big into buying games like I used to, but next chance I get I'll be renting this.
