What will 400wpc do to a 100watt speaker?

:DI am getting (or attempting to anyway) a Sunfire Cinema Grand 400wpcx5 or 7 channel amp. I am not worried about my mains, however my other speakers are rated at 100 to 150 wpc. Csi1 at center, TSI100 at surround, Monitor 50's at rear surround. I am concerned that with the power the Sunfire can/will throw at them that I might get hit with exploding drivers...

Any input on this guys, or will this next piece to my audio puzzle be the last nail in my financial coffin?

It's time to get a pair of 1.2TL's, and another pair of SDA1C's. That way you can keep your surround rounded out, and not have to worry about any exploding drivers.

Oh...and once you've gotten all of that, you need to invite me over for movie night.;)...lol

Your financial coffin has been nailed...lol...j/k

I'd love to have a full on SDA home theater setup someday...it's not likely to ever happen...but I can dream I suppose.

I tried to run 250 watts from my Monster amps until I fried the x-over , tweeter and 1 driver in my CS400i. $127.00 in parts later and I haven't done it since. FWIW, at the time I didn't even seem that loud. My mains and surrounds held up fine. If you decide to try it maybe back off on the center.

It does what you tell it to. Use your ears, and don't push it to hard. BTW I had a Sunfire 200x5 amp and did not like the sound. YMMV
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

John, don't worry about it. Don't clip it or run it to where it has any amount of distortion and not only will you be fine........you'll discover nuances you never had before......even within the same recording that you are familiar with.
