According to a report by Sports Illustrated, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2003, when he was with the Texas Rangers and won the AL home run title and MVP award.

According to the report, which was posted Saturday morning on SI.com, sources told the publication that Rodriguez was on a list of 104 players who tested positive that year, when Major League Baseball conducted tests to see if mandatory random drug testing was needed.

In 2003, there were no penalties for a positive result.

Eesh, I admit I'm a Red Sox fan, but damn:I was really hoping that he would take away the home run crown from Bonds. Way to eff it all up A-Roid. Kiss any chance for redemption out the window.

I'm so sick of these steroid stories. If these players would get their heads out of their asses and just admit they took them, people would not care as much. All they have to say was the start taking steroids cause the sport is extremely competitive and they did not want to fall behind cause everyone else was taking them but not themselves.

This isn't heroine where you take it to get your fix. They wanted to perform better and this is the easiest way to do it.

I feel the same way. I hate ARod (Mariners fan). I wasn't all that upset when Bonds got the all time home run record because I figured ARod would win it back eventually. And do it clean. Apparently he dicked that up too.

Could not disagree more, it's cheating, plain and simple.

And I also disagree, people do care.

They need to strip all those that cheat of any awards, titles, or championships they won while they cheated.

That will not happen, Pete Rose will be in the HOF before they do.

Ive been done with baseball for 15 years already... I was an INVITED GUEST of the president of the Cailfornia Angels at that time and had on field clearance and everything... I took a neighbor kid to see the game against the Mn Twins. It was the first time I had seen my home team play ball in a very long time. the Twins were the defending W/S champs and I was exited to see them play...

Long story short. The neighbor boy got to within 5 feet of Kent Hrebeck and KIrby Puckett and asked them if they would PLEASE sign his baseball cards he brought with him to the game. Herbeck says "sorry kid, its to close to game time" as he looks at his 100k rolex and Puckett says "I can't without permission from my agent..." The boy was deeply dissapointed and I was dumbfounded.

Ad to this, I remember well the Herberck and Puckett I saw play back in 1984 when the Twins sucked so bad you could smell the stench from the Metrodome 50 miles away. They were scrawny little twerps that would fly away in a strong breeze. The guys I saw up close looked like football player, not baseball superstars... they were HUGE!!!

Roids and **** attitudes have been around baseball for a very long time and I choose not to give my money to a bunch of whining crybabies on drugs. If I felt like doing that there are some crackheads close to home that just ask for spare change. I dont like them very much either but at least I can respect them for being honest

I agree w/Hoosier21: "They need to strip all those that cheat of any awards, titles, or championships they won while they cheated." I also believe that stricter rules need to be put into place & enforced to keep guys from cheating now.

It's the only way to: 1) Completely clean up the sport & 2) Send a message that cheating will not be tolerated & 3) Win some fans back & restore respectability to the game.

I never said its was right for them to use steroids. They are just getting themselves in much more trouble by lying about it. I know this is a crazy comparison, but look at Bill Clinton, he didn't get impeached cause he got a **** from his secretary, but that he lied about it. They still should be responsible for their actions, but lying only digs themselves in a deeper hole.

If it weren't for money you wouldn't get to watch baseball, so there's gotta be a middle ground somewhere.

You're worth what someone will pay, unfortunately. The "fans" haven't spoken yet, cuz if they did, salaries would go right down. We're the dummies who keep letting these guys get paid so much to swing a bat. We all get so angry about ticket prices and salaries, but... we're paying it. Until that stops it's not going away. Free market and all that.

I still don't understand how ANYONE can be surprised by these stories. It's why I don't RESPECT most pro athletes. Unfortunately, the good ones are being outnumbered by the a$$holes!!!

I can't remember the Giant's players name, but he just got busted for handgun possession, and I hope Bloomberg throws the book at him!
