Hot yamaha receiver and Rotel amp

Does anybody know how hot a yamaha receiver and Rotel RMB 1095 run?
I checked th surface temp with my infrared thermometer and it reads 130 F.

Not sure I understand your question . Which one, both separately, together, while playing loud, while idling, etc, etc? What speakers are you trying to run, how many?

Which Yammy? Location in a cabinet?

The Rotel should run hotter than the Yammy by design, cooling it *may* hurt the sound as it's an A/B amp with a slight bias into class A. Cooling the tranny's won't allow them to reach the proper operating temp for the best sound.

External cooling should only be used if the amp is running beyond it's rated temp. The Rotel should have thermal cut off if it gets overly hot.

As far as the Yammy (and receivers in general) they tend to skimp on heat sinks partly because of space and because of cost cutting. So the Yammy might be running hot because of a design limitation.

P.s. my single ended class A amp will run so hot you can't touch the heat sinks for more than a couple seconds.........is that wrong...........nope that's how it's designed to run and the parts are chosen accordingly to ensure long life.

yami should never run that hot, and as far as rotel i have no clue... one thing missed in the assesments above is do you have them stacked on to of each other?
I am willing to bet that you have the yamaha sitting directly on top of the rotel. if so this would be the cause of the trouble. amps should never be stackes on top of each other...

Thanks for the above advice. I have an old vertical cabinet with front glass, there are 4 shelves. The rotel is on the bottom shelf, the yamaha RX-v2700 is above this on its own shelf and there is about 3 inches above the top of each component. At idle they are both hot. I keep the front glass closed but the back is open. The top of the case of the yamaha gets so hot that it is uncomfortable to touch....this is where I have been aiming the lasers from my IR thermometer. Neither amp has shut down even during moderate volume (just pushing 2 SDA-1Bs) but the heat is alot more than when I just had the yamaha alone.

I own a Rotel RMB-1095 all in Black Color and this amp has a tendency to run HOT. It's normal and it'll go into protected mode when it thinks it is too hot (it's kind of like u can fry an egg on it). Mine goes into protected in about 10 minutes if I put it on a carpet floor because of no ventilation or air flow around it. When I put it on the small wooden cart with wheels in wide open space, it runs a lot cooler and plays all day long and sounds good. I also have Yammy RX-V1700 for HT and it is also very Hot and it's normal.

Run both of these with as much as ventilation as possible for their long life reliability. If you put them in the case, it's a wise idea to open both the front and the back when using them.

I crank up my Yammy now and then and it don't get hot just lil warm.
But I have it in a open stand and plenty of space tween shelves.

Try it with the door open & see what the temp's are. You might need a little fan if they are still running hot.

Yamahas do not run that hot. Onkyos are notorious for 128-145 temps on some units!

Don't know about the Rotels...I assume they run a bit hot. Mike21 uses a small fan to cool his Onkyo...it brings those temps way down!
