Against Me! is a fantastic band. I've been listening to them on and off for the past couple of months. They come off as a hardcore punk band, which actually makes a fair amount of sense considering that many of the lyrics are insightful and the vocals have an angry sound to them.

On the other hand, they are absolutely fantastic. I had been listening to here two most recent albums, New Wave, and Americans Abroad!!! Against Me!!! Live in London!!! and been loving every second of it. I finally tracked down their The Acoustic EP and wow! It's fantastic! I highly recommend you check them out.

Two words of warning: First, the guy sounds like he's smoke 3 packs a day since before he could walk. It's harsh sounding, although strangely it doesn't detract from the music but rather adds to it. Secondly, this is a traditional punk album: the lyrics are all about anger and anarchy, etc. etc. On the other hand, it isn't a thrash album, so you can actually understand what the hell he's saying most of the time.
Lovin that music year after year.

Reinventing Axel Rose is by far their best work. It is their first full length (the prior 7"s are also quite good) and when they were still somewhat "punk" (i.e. DIY tours and small lable). Their live shows from this time period were phenomenal, the energy displayed at these shows actually is well conveyed on this album. Their use of slightly overdriven guitars drives home the angst and energy in a way heavily distorted can't. Subtlies that are lost when cranking it to 11 shine through with their minimalist delivery.
