Why do I read all these posts? To upgrade faster?
Spend a little time on here and I wind up replacing my old R30's with a pair of T90E's(M60), which sound and look fantastic by the way. And not being quite satisfied with my PSW111(which I just bought a few weeks ago), I go ahead and buy a DSW MicroPro 1000!!!!! What have you guys done to me?? I would like to thank all of you for some great advice so far though.
My new set-up is Onkyo 606, T90e's front, CS2 cent, OWM3's rear, micropro 1000 sub, 43inch Pioneer plasma, PS3 80, with various bluejeans and monoprice connects(the money I saved on wires I spent on my sub.) So from the bottom of my heart please stop posting all your advice or I'll wind up selling my car to get better stuff....lol

Sounds like you're putting together a pretty nice system there. It's not good enough though.;)
Time to get rid of the 606, and replace it with a seperate pre-amp and power amp. You need to get those speakers upgraded to some RTi's next. You'll upgrade to the LSi's after you're done with the RTi's.
Now let's talk subwoofers...:p:p j/k
Seriously though, that looks like a pretty nice system you've put together there. I have the same receiver, and for the price I couldn't be happier with it. Let us know whenever you get your next upgrade though.;) Upgraditis always comes back...it can't be cured, only supressed.:pThe nirvana inducer-

Here is some solid advice. Run away:) This hobby is very addictive, and the quest for better sound is more addictive than crack! Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I feel your pain. But I think your ears are enjoying the sounds. Just bought a PS3 myself. Got to get those Blu-rays runnning and the Dolby Tru-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio. You know..the reason for getting your Onkyo 606.
Congrats on your system. How do you like the micropro 1000 sub?

Funny, that is why I got the 606, too bad I didnt know enough to realize no pre-outs. Micro-pro is so sweet I can hardly stand it.....fills the whole room with very hard hitting super clean bass for a sub so small, handles everything I've thrown at it without so much as even getting warm to the touch. I got it flowing pretty good with the rest of the speaks, can't wait till I really fine tune it all. Now if I could just get better at hiding my wires....lol

Yep...When I first started looking into some new audio equipment my approximate budget was around 800 dollars. I've already topped that figure and completely changed my plans. The new estimated budget is at the very least...3000 dollars or so?...lol And that's just the start...once I finish picking all of the stuff up that's on my current list, I'm going to have a completely new list to start going after. I don't foresee myself ever really being "done" with my system...ever.
Not to mention that today I finally discovered how huge of a difference quality cables can make. I just got an AQ Black Mamba IC that I won in a karma from Mike Reeter a week or so back...and it made me realize that the idea of spending a horrendous amount of money on cabling is in my near future...The nirvana inducer-

You've gotta upgrade your cables. That's your next step.;)

What cables are you guys referring to? By and large there is a pretty big debate about cable quality...if you're passing a digital signal through a cable spending 100s of dollars is not a wise idea. For speaker wire. Yes, gauge and copper quality, shielding and so forth becomes more important. Analog signals can also benefit from good quality cabling.
But the Jury is out or hung when it comes to things like coax and HDMI! I know on what side I stand. But this is an interminable and old debate..that will probably never be settled. So if you have high end cables don't listen to brand X in a double blind test because...well just because....

My hdmi's are all monoprice and they are like the best kept secret for cheap or should I say inexpensive connnects.....we were just chatting about the AQ that cc got karma on, he just stated that a true high quality cable can be worth it(and I'm sure you know we aren't talking about those cables that shall not be named) lol

j/k I know exactly where you're coming from. Upgraditis hit me hard from the very beginning.
Hi my name is Michael and I am an audioholic.
EDIT: P.S. Uh I don't see any external amps in your sig. And if I remember correctly that 606 doesn't have any pre-outs right?

As far as HDMI cables, and digital audio cables go...the difference really is negligible. There is still going to be a difference between a complete piece of junk cable, and something of decent quality, but it's not really necessary to spend big money on HDMI or digital audio cables. You're very right about that part.
I can attest to how big of a difference can be had with high quality analog IC's though. I just made my first step up the cable chain(aside from Monster) and I was blown away by the difference. The same goes for speaker wire. The speaker wire I'm using right now isn't real high end. 14 gauge Stinger brand wire...not real high end stuff, but it was a huge step up from the crap 22 gauge Walmart-esque speaker wire I was using before. Some AQ Type 4 is on the list for the near future as well for hooking up my Monitor 7A's.
Is it worth it to go out and spend 4000 dollars on a cable? That I can't attest to.
dborzz-You've just got to do what you can, when you can do it. That's what I'm doing. My system is just being upgraded one piece at a time. I'm sure you're still more than happy with your setup as is. You don't want to throw yourself in the poor house for this hobby obviously. You've just gotta work within your budget, and upgrade as your budget allows.
I kind of prefer just upgrading one thing at a time myself. Doing it that way, you get to see what differences and improvements EACH individual piece is making to your system. If you go out and buy it all at once, you're still going to be happy with it obviously...but you don't really get individual impressions of how well each separate piece of it works. You just get the whole picture all at once then. The nirvana inducer-

Over on the Carver forum they call what you are doing OCCD (Obsessive Carver Collecting Disorder). What you might have is OPCD (Obsessive Polk Collecting Disorder).
The Carver forum has a whole support group to help people with this. Might want to start a new area just dedicated to this.
BTW I know I have OCCD. Just in the last 6 months I have bought 12 Carver Audio components. And I just can't stop.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t
