Today, after many years of an idea on the back burner I decided to do a domain name search and it had not yet been used, so, I bought it, both a .com and .net. I also did a trademark search on the USPTO site and the name has not yet been trademarked, so that's my next step, granted that is if it qualifies. There's a ton of reading for this one though but I'm going to try for it.

Once I get the trademark, I'll begin to develop my website, it'll be very simple but easy. My design team (wife and daughter) are going to start working on logo's and such.

This should be a lot of fun. Something I've wanted to do (for myself more than anything) for quite awhile now.

Anyone know of website software that is free?

Congrats Ron. Sounds like a great family project. What is the site going to be about?

I am sure there are great free programs out there that others can direct you too. If not then PM me.

Does this mean you're going to make a lot of money,
and skip town leaving a lot of angry investors?
That seems to be the DotCom business model.

But seriously, sounds interesting. Have fun with it
and if it makes money, even better.

Hopefully its a website filled with angry rhetoric about how the Club Polk forum sucks, what ever happened to the old days and then post pictures of your new purchases. Sign me up!
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Right now, it's nothing more then a fun idea, I just wanted to secure the name being that it had not been used. If it grows beyond that, cool.

My goal is to have designs and maybe some test product in the hands of family and friends by Christmas, maybe even my site up and running by then.

Thank you for the offer Sohpie, I may indeed hit you up on that. Although right now I'm not too sure what I want my logo to look like. My daughter came up with a really good one last night which might just be the base for the logo.

Not saying as of now, sorry about that. It's just something I want to keep on the DL for now. Once my site is up and running, I'll post it.

I am filling out the Trademark registration paperwork for the State of California today, it's a fairly simple form and only costs $70. I'm not going to bother with the Federal Trademark registration until I get a more solid idea on where this will go. Besides, it's upwards of $500 and lots of paperwork, plus I'd like to have my logo done and ready by the time I am ready to do that.

Ron-P good to hear you're taking the plunge! It'll definitely be a learning experience for everyone in your family.
