I watch a show named Antiques RoadShow and they showed this guy who collected Civil war Stuff. He had a Lieutenant Sword that was worth $30,000 and a Belt Buckle that was worth $35,000

Maybe you should have that stuff appraised.

Maybe this site will help you? http://www.civilwarpreservation.com/

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/index.html

    Civil War Belt Buckles: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/video/louisville_200704F02_wm.html

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/fts/louisville_200704F02.html

As much as I'd love to insure those things...it's not really in the cards right now. That costs money unfortunately...money that I don't have...lol

Like I said though, they're at my parents house, so they should be covered by their home owners insurance(?), in case of fire or anything that like that.

Sal-I'll have to check out some of those websites. I've always been interested in seeing what some of this stuff might be worth. Thanks for the links.:) I've also watched Antiques Roadshow quite a bit. It's amazing what some of that stuff ends up being worth. My parents collect a lot of antiques from the Victorian era. Most of the furniture in their home is from that time period. The couch/chair in their living room are dated to the 1850's, and have been appraised at over 5000 dollars. It's amazing what some of this stuff ends up being worth!

One of my brothers has an old Stihl chainsaw that was made in roughly 1935. It was one of the first gasoline powered chainsaws ever produced, as the first ones were actually electric, up until about 1929. The thing is a beast though...I'm not sure what it weighs exactly, but if I had to guess I'd say somewhere in the 45-50 pound range.

Not all that old but fairly rare. I restored this 1949EL Harley, found a year matching sidecar (1949) and restored it. Sadly I sold it 2 years ago and will never be back on US soil since it went to the Netherlands.

Very nice. I've always loved the vintage Harleys.

Tim Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. I know for sure that is what my GrandFather would have said if I had asked him that question.

I'll have to pass your thanks along to him. It's funny how some people can bring happiness, even through secondhand stories.

But do you have a pre-historic Rubik's Cube? You know... the ones made out of ferns and fossilized raptor dung?

No, but I do prefer the dating scene back then. If you see something you like, just hit it over the head with a hammer and carry away. Actually that works on the dining scene also.

I collect old maps. One of Tartary by Abraham Ortelius is circa 1575. The other is "India Orientalis" by Jan Jansson circa 1625. They belong in a museum somewhere but look beautiful hanging in my family room. Chris

Maybe not one of the oldest, but one of the most cherished. The little rocking chair my Grandparents gave me when I was one. My son used it and he will hand it down as well. It is currently going through some TLC.
