pushing the SRC2496 to the MAX possible sound quality in D/A function

What things do i need to mod in order to push the src 2496 to the max possible SQ as D/A purpose? Now in my mind is,

1. Ak4396 Dac
2. Burson Opamp in D/A
3. Replace clock unit( might be burson clock)
4. Toroidal transformer
5. Recap all capacitors with rubycon
6. replace internal voltage regulator.

can i add extra analog RCA output? because i dun use XLR...

Do you think it can equal with high end $3000usd DAC?

    Nope

In general you can't "polish a ****". While mods "might" be possible the Behringer will never compete favorably with a high end DAC. It's not designed to from it's inception and no amount of "bling" (extra mods) are going to change that fact.

Have no idea what you mean here--- MAX limit of Sound Quality. What is MAX limit of Sound Quality to you? I'm sure you and I have different idea's about what is quality and sound and what is not.

I say go for it..........but don't expect it to sound as good or close to a high end DAC in the price range you mentioned.

For $485, the Audiosmile modified SRC2496 is capable of recreating ninety percent of the sonic abilities of my
$2500 reference DAC. For the frugal audio enthusiast, this unit should be on a short list for components to audition.
3 A high quality digital front end is a major component to a good sounding audio system, and this DAC is the real
deal. Detail retrieval and transparency is unmatched by any other digital component that I have encountered at
this price point. In the past, I have owned the TRL modified Sony SCD-595, which has a reputation of being an
overachiever in the digital world. While I enjoyed the TRL unit, I would not hesitate to say I would choose the
modified SRC2496 over it.4 Simon has done a fine job on this unit, and I suspect he will sell a bushel of these
modification packages. Affordable Audio is all about trying to find those special audio components that offer highend
sound at a price that the every day audio enthusiast can afford. The Audiosmile SRC2496 fits this bill quite
    nicely.

^^^Then why are you asking. Knock yourself out. I don't believe it for a minute. I've been in this hobby over 20+ years and 100's of so called mods or giant killers have come and gone and very few impressed me.

Remember about 3-4 years ago all the rage was to modify Toshiba 3960 DVDp's and they were supposed to sound as good as multi thousand dollar cdp's............well I heard several on a few occasions and it was a giant myth.

You obviously already have your answer in that review...........so do it and let us know how it turns out :)
