New Element Discovered

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.
The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.
A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from four days to four years to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.
In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.
When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
May God help us survive this growing mass before it becomes a giant hole that sucks us all in!

Joking aside, this new element can have a major impact on life as we know it. That's not a laughing matter.

We are already feeling the weight. Give it time and we will still be paying for that weight decades beyond when this thread will disappear.

Gee and all this time I thought it was Corperatarium with it's overpaid CEO's, unbelievable number of well-paid management, and weak force employees that it can shed at a moments notice.

But perhaps this is not the heaviest element but a faster than light energy since it seems capable of dispersing capital overseas and decimating jobs at speeds that make light look slow.

And if allowed to continue to function at such unchecked speeds why. There will be nothing left in America at ALL. Not even Government!

You gotta admit boys. Eisenhower called it the military industrial complex?

The beast is GOV'T and BUSINESS. Never forget that! Here we are in the 21st century and business models and capital are still functioning under the onus of one Adam Smith of 18 century fame!

That just doesn't sound like it could solve anything, anymore than Gov't can.

What we need is a reboot, rethinking of both what Gov't is and what in god's name Capitalism is in this very very very late phase of its history.

Corporations most certainly Do not know what that is. The Banking system does not either and Wall Street is by far the most clueless!

As for me. I'm enjoying what I will now coin as the Economic Dark Ages. How many Madoffs can you fit on the head of a pin?

The markets must remain free of Government cumbersome regulations and over taxation. In an open market capitalism will rebound, it always takes care of itself. The more government involvement moves towards Socialism then the markets are doomed to fail. Do you know of any socialist markets that have been successfully? Maybe Russia circa 1965-1990, or Cuba 1959 and counting, or any of the Eastern European Countries during the cold war. Or how about some South American Governments? Their governments did wonders for their economies.

Sooner or later the spending on stimulus packages will catch up with us. Taxes will need to increase to fund the socialist programs that people have become accustomed to. Taxes go up, spending goes down, more jobs are lost. Not a pretty picture.

    Get Government out of business!

I can't agree because Capital is now so globally unregulated that it has no reason to be MORAL! And if one looks at the early development of Capitalism which, in England had a lot to do with strangers meeting in coffee houses, etc. and gradually learning to 'trust' each other, to organize, forge contracts and trade! I'd say that we're way past the idea the Capital is in any way 'responsible' and that it is a somewhat naive idea that there are not Ethics or morals necessary for the invisible hand of capitalism to work. If that were true there would be no history of Anti-trust laws. The natural course of free markets is to ELIMINATE all competition and dominate the market as the only option. That's why there can be no totally unregulated anything.

However, at the same time. We've outgrown Gov't as we've known it. The option is not between Capitalism or Socialism, Both are somewhat passe economic options; but something that is of this century. Something Post-capitalism, post-socialism. What that might be needs to be worked out by both the market and a kind of Governmental Internationalism that puts some restraints on the free flight of capital by eliminating the idea of national borders so that people can move as easily as capital moves. If LABOR can move as freely as capital across National boundaries and Nation States just cease to exist! Perhaps that's one way to think about it. I don't have your answer but it seems to me the next Noble in economics needs to go to the next Smith/Marx? Whoever that may be. I haven't seen him or her anywhere yet.

But I continue to hear tired theories about what's been done before. Yet somehow we've had 13 recessions since the 30s, and those in the know realize that what FDR did in the 30s was save the U.S. from having a Communist revolution with Big Gov't programs. If he would've left that period to Market forces alone I think I'd be calling everyone here 'comrade'?

The time for Capitalism and Socialism is OVER!

It's not funny, just tragic. But that's life! No! People grow old, they get sick and they die! Humor is important nonetheless. At least if we can't agree we can laugh and cry together?
