SDA tweeter replacement with SL2000

I purchased my SDA 2B speakers used in 1991. Recently, the right channel tweeter stopped working. I opened up the tweeter and realized it already contained an SL 2000 tweeter manufactured in 1988 (both speakers have them). Considering my speakers where manufactured in 1982, it's my assumption the previous owner install the tweeters and never shared the information with me.
Question: Should I replace both tweeters with the SL 2000's or just the right channel? Is the SL 2000 the only option?

You can get "upgraded" tweeters from Polk...give them a call and mention you are a forum member for a discount. I would want all my tweeters to be the same but if you are staying with the 2000's then just replace the ones that are bad. I blew one years ago and got another 2000 from Polk and never had any more problems. If you are looking for a pair of the SL 2000 tweeters let me know. I'm sure I have them boxed up somewhere in the house! I think you'll need a few more posts to pm me though. I think you can also find them on ebay.Yep, my name really is Bob.

I think your 1982 manufacture date might be a typo. Are you sure you didn't mean 1987, the first year the SDA-2B was manufactured?
RDO194-1 is the Polk replacement part number for the original SL2000 and they cost about $50 each when acquired from Polk after identifying yourself as a Club Polk member.
If you wish to get creative and replace capacitors and resistors in your crossovers (they age and lose a portion of their usefulness after 20 years), there is a tweak that costs only about an additional $20 that allows you to upgrade to the same price (but in my opinion far superior) RDO198-1 tweeter.
You own one of the most highly regarded Polk speakers, and you might find this restoration thread interesting http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74945, or perhaps just plain overwhelming - Welcome to Club Polk!VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S
