Hello every one. I need help. I had set of speakers sda1.2tl and few Month ago I got Rotel RB1090 amplifier to use whit that set. I am not very happy when it come to bass from that amp. Before I had ONKYO M 504 hook up whit 1.2tl and sound was very nice and bass was there. My pre amp is Marantz. I like to know if any one of you had used PARASOUND 2205 whit SDA 1.2TL and if that going to have a sound like onkyo or not. Also if any one of you had used that amp. Also what you think I must pay for that amp ?.Thanks Roy

Where are the speakers placed in the room?
While i cannot comment on the Parasound, I can comment on the Onkyo. I have a M5030 Integra Onkyo and it does have a nice warm sound to it. I have it driving my sda 2.3 right now. Some of the Onkyo or Integra amps are very underrated in my opinion.
The m504 I have heard and it is a good sounding amp! I also think it is a dual mono design and it is not just my opinion on the sound. The amp does have some great reviews.
On another note, I have a friend that has a B&K amp and he used to have a parasound amp. He said he never cared for the parasound. I do not recall the model but, he said also it lacked some bass and said the sound stage was not as good as his B&K.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
Thanks. Speakers are at same place since day one and I play whit onkyo M 504 165WPC and one other power amp MARANTZ MM9000 whit 170WPC and they sound very nice but on onter hand ROTEL whit 380WPC had some issue whit bass. I also have other set SDA SRS in my office and I just play whit MARANTZ SR-7200 Receiver and they sound very good. I know that is not a good set up but in my office is kind of ok. Any one know about that Parasound 2205 amp. I think I can have that for 550.00. Thanks Roy

That's a very good price on the 2205---- If it were me, I wouldn't pass it up.

Damn sweet price for the HCA-2205. I have 3 of these babies and I paid mine for over 1200 each but it was like a year ago. They pairs very nicely with LSi speakers or RTi speakers for HT setup. But I didn't have an opportunity to pair it with 1.2TL or any SDA speakers.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

I don't know much about the Parasound amp but I can second the great review on the Onkyo m-504. It is a great sounding amp with some extremely clean power which the SDA's love. We use one with our 2.3's and it sounds fine. I'm not saying they can't handle more power but for what that Onkyo is rated at, it sounds pretty darn good. We are switching over to the NAD 218thx to see if that is better.
Good luck Roy and let us know how it turns out! -
Hi. Any one know if HCA-2205A is commen ground amp or not ?. Thanks

Hello every one. Yesterday I went to pick up my new Toy PARASOUND HCA 2205A. I like to know what is the best way you I can hook that AMP whit SDA SRS 1.2TL. Like BI AMP or just used only two CH from five. If bi amp how to used only two L&R pre singnal to hookup 4CH of that amp ?. Thanks

Hello Roy, welcome back.
You have made a fine choice in amplificaton for your speakers.
I do not recall about the common ground for this amp I am sure someone here knows, if not just call Parasound, however, if you are going to bi-amp, remove the wires connecting the top and bottom binding posts on each speaker.
You can use a Y-cable from your pre-amp to send the Right channel to say channel 1 and 2 on your amp, you would just use two different interconnects hooked to the y-calbe, then run speaker cables from each channel on the amp, one to the top set of binding posts one to the bottom set. Then do the same thing for the other channel coming from the pre. Its one way to bi-amp.

I think that is the same amp which was damaged to an co-worker friend. But if I remember right I think amp 1 goes to amp 2 when bridge you use only amp 1 input. The same for 3 / 4 amps use only 3 input.

Roy,
Don't worry you don't have that amp, it was the same model I think anyway. The whole thing is a can of worms, I like to leave it as that. But trust me you don't have it my co-worker still has it, and no he got nothing back for anyone ever.

Hi Roy,
I biamped my 1.2TLs using a Parasound HCA 1000A on the high frequencies. Here is the thread on how I did it and my review.

You'll get plenty of bass if you use atleast 200wpc on the lows. I would go for more if you can. -
Hi. Thanks
I like to you to let me know what you think if I used two amp to do that job. Like I got one two CH ROTEL RB 1090 whit 380wpc and other HCA 2205 whit 220wpc. I was thinking I can used RB 1090 for L and PARASOUND HCA 2205 for H Or just only PARASOUND ?.

Yep, use the Rotel on the lows and the Parasound on the highs. When I had the Parasound on the highs it had a sweet rich sound. -
Thanks for the info. I try to hook up that way this Sunday. Any info what kind of Y cable to used and where to buy them ?.

Hi. Every one. Last Sunday I got some cable and had the time to reinstall my amps. Now I had ROTEL RB-1090 380 WPC for low and PARASOUND HCA 2205 for High. After all the work when I turn on and play some demo CD I got the sound I was looking for sweet and lots of bass. Now I am happy whit my set up. One thing I like to ask any one of you when I hook up my TV audio out to receiver I get hum in all the speakers. I do not know Any Idea ?. Thanks Roy
