Another Plasma thread

On a quest to find a good plasma I created a thread a couple days back and ended up getting a Samsung LCD instead. Just noticed they have a pioneer kuro 5020 on Amazon for $1999 and free shipping. Is this a good set compared to the Elite and is this there current model.
If this is worth it I can cancel my Samsung order and get the Kuro 5020 for the same price. Has anyone bought a tv from Amazon before and do they offer any kind of warranty. The regular price is $3500 why is it so much cheaper?
Thanks

I bought my Sony 60" from Amazon a little over two years ago. They are (or were) Sony-authorized so the warranty was Sony, and could be extended pretty cheaply through Sony. Every thing went extremely well and I would do it again. Hope that helps on the Amazon question.
I'm not a Pioneer expert but I believe the Kuro 5020 and 6020 are the previous models. I think the 60" is now down to $3400 on Amazon so it's probably a model change thing. The one of the new models is something like Pro-111FD and is $5000. Nothing wrong with getting a previous model if the price is right. It's still new.Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p

That model is one of the newer models. It is not an elite but is still in the kuro line. Very good plasma. Better than any lcd around that price point.58" Samsung Plasma (on wall)(calibrated)

Definetly a great price for the Pioneer Kuro, granted you'd be downsizing screen wise a bit, but i mean its a Pioneer Kuro, the best of the best when it comes to what brand to get for a plasma! It is last years model though (or not the newest ones i should say) but still great. You won't have that brightness you like with the LCD, but you'll have an amazing picture none the less.
You wouldn't be buying it from amazon for that price though, the seller is 6ave electronics. If you want it from amazon it's a few hundred dollars more. The other sellers are Vanns and Onecall, and they are also priced a bit higher. I don't think you'd have any trouble buying it through amazon from 6ave though, i haven't heard anything bad about them, and i'm pretty sure they are an authorized dealer, so you'd get the full Pioneer Warranty. You could always call 6ave directly and ask as well.

Whether you keep the Samsung 650, or go with the Kuro, you'll have an amazing tv.
Good luck in your decision!

Ugh................Ugh.....Tell me tell me:D -
Leroy,
I think wingnut's got you. Those Kuro sets are some of the very best in their price range. Is it REALLY going for less than 2 grand?
That sounds like a steal!

Nope. Those are the Elite Kuro Line that came out early last year, the 5020 and 6020 is the the lower Kuro series. There isn't a date on the 10g Kuro's yet. -
Just to be a little more clear, there are three lines in the Kuro Series. The Kuro(5020FD/6020FD), Kuro Elite(111FD/141FD), and the Signature Elite monitors (101FD/141FD) .

From what I've read, the elite line has more picture controls than the 5020/6020. But ironically doesn't need them as much because they have very accurate black levels, colors, etc. The 5020/6020 still have great pictures, though, only outdone by their more expensive brothers.

Not sure about Amazon, but Vann's is a great seller with top notch customer service and they have the 5020 on sale with free shipping.

Get the Pioneer, you already have 3 other Sammy's...LOL:) -
I just bought a Samsung plasma from Amazon in January. All in all, the experience was flawless. They use CES for their delivery and they were quite good. They called to set up an appointment, came when they said they would, and delivered the TV in perfect condition. I'm not sure about the warranty, but I would feel very comfortable ordering from Amazon. The price was actually less from Amazon when I purchased the TV, so it was a no-brainer for me.
