I am using this AVR and am really happy with the performance, will be relocated my own place in couple of months, one big issue is i dont want to sell this, i am planning to take this back home only issue is the Voltage difference in my country, its 220Volt and 50hz, how do i solve this problem, i know i can get a step down transformer, but is there any other alternative at all.... please help all valuable suggestions and solutions welcome.
The reason for me to avoid step down transformer is the hum noise as i read in some other place i dont remember where...and also very bulky.

Thanks for the reply... my AVR is USA model so its only 110 v capable, i am aware of the voltage selector in the asian and european models.

    Jacob,

Sorry you are correct I just thumbed my manual and saw it in there and assumed it was on our model. I would suggest getting a step up-down voltage converter. http://www.110220volts.com/TC-2000.html

jacob, sorry to say it but really for the price I think you would just be better off selling it. I have the 663 also and can understand why you would like to keep it. For the price it is a good performing budgit AVR. The only thing that can compete feature/price IMHO is the Pioneer VSX 1018 and HK 254.
I think the 663 has earned a good reputation, it looks like most places are listing them @ $500 right now. They got as low as $350 from an authorized dealer when they first came out. so depending on what you paid you should not have any problem selling it without taking too big a hit. Then purchase an international or 220V modle or one of the others I mentioned above when you get home.
    Good luck

jacob, one last thought and this is a long shot, but depending on how long ago you bought and the retailer, maybe you can work a deal with them. See if they could get you an international modle, and take your used one on trade, with out burning you on the trade value. Like I said this is a long shot, but things are slow all over......so you never know it doesn't cost anything to ask.

Thanks again, i did my research with both Yam and Onkyo, Yam was very good with CS and replied to all my queries, and they said they cant really help out with this issue, but assured me that this will work with a Step down transformer rated atleast 1.5 times than avr's required max power, even though there is a difference in Cycles i.e, 60Hz in US and 50Hz in India this is my only concern, if i can get a Yam 220 Volt Transformer to fit in the AVR this should solve the problem, but what will be the cost of modification dont know yet, i did ask my brother to find out about Step d transformer its available for $100 for 1000watt one, thinking i should go in for this. Thanks again for the inputs, any other info is also welcome.
