Does anyone know or have an opinion about phono preamps? I want to improve on the sound from my TT (Project Xperience) and was going to send in my Carver m-4000t for a rebuild, but was thinking that maybe I should get a phono preamp instead. At what price point/brand should I be looking to get a big improvement in sound?

What cartridge are you using? MM/MC? I would go with a separate phono pre myself. Budget? Tubes? SS? What is your main listening preference?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I have an all carver set-up, I listen to just about everything, but lately almost exclusively everything on vinyl. Budget? I don't want to spend too much, looking for the most bang for the buck. Hopefully less than 1500...

2/3rd's down the page is a very fine phono preamp. I've got one built into my McAlister Custom built preamp and it's as good as you're going to find for the money.

The Acoustech PH1P is rather grand. If you go for it make sure you get the PH-1P. This is alot of preamp for the money very flexible and will carry you well into future TT purchases, the member I got it from had to spend over seven grand to beat it.
