Nice - but remember, you do owe us all a full report!
I was hoping I might score on these - oh well - I think I'll pull the trigger on my own set of AQ ICs.
Congrats,
Erik

The cables just arrived about 20 minutes ago! They look great...I haven't tested them out yet though, I'm waiting for them to warm up a bit before I do. I'm anticipating big improvements though. I'll report back with the results after I get some listening time in.

Alright...so I managed to get a good amount of listening time in on the AQ Black Mamba today.
I have to say, that I'm very impressed with it. This is my first experience with high end cables outside of Monster Cables. I was using a Monster THX IC before I got this, and needless to say, the AQ blows the Monster out of the water...there's not even a comparison to be made between the two...lol
My first impression of the cable was that the bass seemed somewhat quieter compared to the Monster. Upon further listening though my ears got a bit more used to it. The AQ really brought the bass to life though. It was quieter a little bit, but much cleaner overall. Especially in the upper-bass/lower-mid regions the bass was way tigher more focused, and really punchy. The real low stuff really came through a lot cleaner...it wasn't as loud, but it really provided some tight "slam-in-the-chest" kinda bass.
It also really brought the highs to life. I never realized how flat and lifeless my highs were before now. This AQ really brought them forward a lot more. Really high notes are coming through much crisper and more accurately than they were before...and it seems to have tamed down the bright highs that tend to be the nature of Onkyo's.
The mid-range warmed up considerably. The guitars in Tool's Aenima sounded as they never have before on my system...it really brought out that "crunchy" tone that they have. All of Danny Carey's tom rolls on the album were really brought to life...each beat of the drum coming through crystal clear, and was clearly separated from the last...the mid's on the Monster always seemed kind of muddy sounding, and nowhere near as accurate as they are now.
The overall soundstage seems to have gotten much wider as well. I'm getting much more of a "enveloped" type of feeling. The soundstage almost seems to wrap around me now...it makes stereo effects blend much better, making the transition from speaker to speaker almost seamless.
I'm very happy with this upgrade, as my entire system seems to have benefited from it. I'll definitely be looking into more high end cables in the near future. I think it's about time to get the other two Monster cables out of my system. I'll probably also be getting some AQ Type 4 to connect my Monitor 7's here in the near future.
I'll be re-karma'ing this AQ Black Mamba IC once it get's upgraded. It may be a little while though. So for those of you who didn't get it this time around, there will be another shot at it eventually.;)
Thanks again Mike for the Karma. It was an excellent gesture, and an excellent upgrade to my system. Thanks for getting me one step closer to my goal of audio nirvana.;):DThe nirvana inducer-

Glad you're enjoying the A/Q's...Looks to me like you are starting to slide down that slippery slope of "upgraditis"
-
lol...I've been sliding down that hill ever since I got my Onkyo 6 months ago. I keep finding things in my system that just aren't quite cutting it.
A Cambridge DVD/SACD player, a pair of RTi8's and RTi6's, and an Adcom GFA545 are the short list...for the next month and a half or so. I'd say upgradeitis has hit...lol...of course now I'm gonna have to also get some nice cables worth of hooking up all that gear.;)The nirvana inducer-
