Weak SDA Driver?

So dig, I was listening to my CRS (blade/blade) speakers and they didn't sound quite right. Almost no SDA quality. I re-checked phase and interconnect-good to go. I then did the full left-full right balance procedure. The sound went far to the right of the speaker, right side, stayed at the left cabinet when cranked full left. So, what do you guys think? Left SDA driver getting weak? I pulled it out and it was working, but hard to tell if it was stronger than the stereo driver. Thanks!

More weekend update.....I swapped SDA drivers from left to right cabinets with no change. I did notice something even stranger than the usual strangeness. When I turn the balance all the way right, all the sound goes to the right side; way to the right. When I turn it all the way left, most of the sound goes left, but I still have some sound between the speakers. Whats up with that?
Starting to think the crossover is kaput, OK, maybe just faulty. Any suggestions on where to start? I have a volt meter but not sure I have the intelligence to wield it.

In a proper working SDA, you should get right channel from the left dimensional and left channel from the right dimensional drivers. The signal should be a diminished (lower) level than the main stereo driver's signal. This is how SDA works.

If your description is correct, the dimensional driver is out on your left side. This should be labeled MW6511 and be placed on the far left (outside) of the cabinet. The stereo drivers are MW6510s and are to the inside of the cabinets.

Thanks for the input, Dennis. I swapped out the dimensional drivers with no change. They were labeled MW6503, matter of fact ALL mids were 03's. All were labeled SDA CRS and within a few weeks of each other on QC tests. I think they are original.

And just to clarify my ramblings above, when I say the sound goes way to the right, I mean to the right of the speaker cabinet. Between the cabinet and the right wall. On the left side, sound does not extend past the cabinet. It stays betwixt the two cabinets.

I don't think so. Tried it on the living room system with the same results.
Thanks for the driver info, Lasareath. I was hoping that was the case.
I'm gonna check the drivers for resistance and see what that turns up.
    Thanks all.

It almost sounds as if it is the left stereo driver (the louder of the two and the closest to the center) that is not generating enough sound.

Grilles off, amp turned full left at medium volume, go to the left speaker and determine which driver is loudest.

How close is your left speaker to the side wall? If less than 3 feet, the sound stage will suffer on that side.

I've got about 5 feet on both sides.
