Are those knobs new? Can you see the scratches in regular light?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Nothing new on the pre, I took some additional pic's to show the scratches,,for me it's not a big deal, the performance kinda' overcame the scratches on the faceplate. As with alot of preamps, there is a faint "hum",which is barely audible at idle. The usual sonicaps inside, and for you Carver fans,it's a pretty good matchup with the TFM series.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Not only do TUBES RULE, this little pre gets my full endorsement and a bump back to the front page. Do not get fooled, this is a serious piece of audio nirvana.

I'm not letting go of my Dodd ELP. Its staying. One thing I just noticed about George's Dodd, is that it has 3 inputs. Mine only has two - so bonus to whoever gets this one. These definately don't come up for sale often.____________________

I'm the original owner- My cat put those scratches on it, so I can say for certain they are superficial. He saw his reflection & attacked with the one paw of death!!! It was funny till I saw what he'd done.
Anyhow, it was a great little pre and had no trouble driving everything I threw at it.
Extra inputs: I think it cost me like $50 to have Gary put those on there, so someone needs to jump on this.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Good luck George. I considered selling mine a time or two because I'm not using it right now. But it is like brand new and for what I paid, I just can't bring myself to part with it. Maybe if I ever get really desperate I will."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Just now saw this thread. It is a great pre, folks. I wish someone in the family would jump on it. You won't regret it!
Good luck with the sale, George. Hopefully it'll move soon for you.George Grand wrote: »

Thanks guy's,, this is my second one,my plan is to try/audition tube pre's in the 700-1000 dollar range, as I'm tweaking the 2ch system with monitors(tyler taylos),so I thought I would give someone here a chance to own one.Time was, these would not last a day, even in the 450-500 price range.Oh well.:)JC approves....he told me so. Lousy timing for me. I've got serious regrets about selling mine last year. Guess I'll have to wait.
Good luck with the sale. If hell freezes over and it's still available in two weeks I'll take it.

These are now sold. Going to a good friend of mine. You folks lost out while you had the chance!~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
