Law School

I am currently in pharmacy school. I have 2.5 more years to go before I graduate with my PharmD. I am thinking about going to law school afterwards. Anybody here a lawyer or know someone that went to law schoool? Can anyone recommend a good one? Just thought I would get some outside sources. Thanks!

    It's not always what the best school is, it's if you can get accepted or not, you may find tons of "great" schools and never get accepted, Not saying you wouldn't but you have to apply and see what happens... Good Luck

    My Xwife is a good attorney and I know this from first hand experience. ;)

    She went to Duquesne Univ in Pittsburgh.

    If you follow this path take the extra step to get into Patent Law. Now there is some bank!

    Yeah, patent law is the plan. I am hoping that Doctor of Pharmacy + Law Degree would make me an especially attractive asset to a biotech/pharmaceutical company. I do hear that the patent attorneys for some biotech companys pull in quite a salary. However, while the money is very appealing, I do want the education and I am guessing the work would be very rewarding. I'll soon see.

    Not a well known school, but it used to regularly go to the national moot court competition and beat the "big boys". At least that's what my Bud's told me when I looked puzzled at the name

    Polkie / Lawyer here. Have been a lawyer for 10 years; last 6 on my own. (small office, just me). I never really enjoyed being a lawyer. I practiced insurance defense litigation in Chicago for a few years, but currently practice primarily in real estate. All my friends from school, including myself, think about leaving the practice; one actually did!

    I found law school to be difficult and challenging. However, I did make it through and I am very proud of that. I wish I would have had more direction and counseling during school though. If you have not figured it out yet, LEARN how to study.

    My advice: Make sure you want to practice law, not just call yourself a lawyer. Make friends with the counselors in the student guidance department. Have a plan going into school. It does sound like you have a plan...stick to it. Intellectual Property Law (patent law) is a very specialized field worth big $$$.     Thanks a lot man. I do have a plan. I am thinking patent law in biotech/pharmaceutical. I feel that I have learned how to study. My first semester of pharmacy school I took over 45 tests. Thats about 3 a week, given that the first few weeks don't count. You learn to study well really quickly from that. I have since developed insomnia, but thats another story :) I understand that law school will be difficult, but so is pharmacy school. From the people I have talked to that have both degrees, they say that law school is equally, but differently challenging. More reading I here. I think I can do it. I have the drive and motivation. That is the key for me. I am trying to set up a day to shadow a patent attorney at a local biotech firm in Washington. I realize I need to do this before I go into school, but that won't be for another 5 years or so. Thanks for your advice though. I would love to hear more about your times as a lawyer.
