Since I bought Onkyo 805, MY Sony HTIB HTSS 2000 (Receiver) is shut down, unplugged and put away. I plan to use my current HTIB sony speakers until I order RTi A series soon. I bought 75' Philips 14 gauge speaker wire that connects speaker to tuner/amplifier.

The 24g wire seem little thicker than htib wire, will the wire i bought be ok to use for the speakers? Of course I plan to upgrade speaker wire soon from monoprice or blue jeans. BTW, back of the speakers , there red and black clips for wires.

However, for my HTIB sub, I have a problem, it does nt have rca output. it is already connected to purple plastic square component plug to be plugged to HTIB receiver. What can I do with HTIB sub? I want to use for temporary until I buy new sub soon. I CANT LIVE WITHOUT SUBWOOFER!! :p

This is for temporary.

Sounds like you don't have a powered sub. Your receiver was powering the sub.

The Onkyo only has a signal output for the sub. You need power output. The only way it could work is if you ran a external amp.

Should be OK for now. That's thin wire so I wouldn't run it too long.

oh no, it'll be about at least 4 feet wires hooking up. like i said, its temporary and wife want listen TV and play wii with sound :D

she keep bugging me about hooking it up so i went walmart tonight becuz i know i can get cheap temporary wire
Why not just use the Sony until you at least get the speakers and decent cable Calig?

wanting see how my onkyo handle tv, bluray and ps3 games. trying fix wii settings. playing around with onkyo menu to get familiar with it. I need to learn since i will be handling the system setup. Need learn stuff now, dont want it collect dust til then.

wire only cost me 5 bucks. no big deal

Personally I'd say you're better off just using the Sony for the time being until you get new speakers. That way you'd at least be able to use the sub. I know the urge to use that new gear can be overwhelming...but this is one case where you're probably better off waiting really.

edit-nevermind. You just answered me before I even asked you...lol

not if someone answer my question in subwoofer thread. Plan to buy new subwoofer next week or two. wife will confirm when by friday. I asked because i was told that i can cut the sub wire and hook it up to onkyo. i didnt want to, and wanted to see if there's another alternative.

well i guess i will plug sub and 2 speakers to sony and use it when i want watch blu-ray, i dont mind unplug hdmi off onkyo to hook up htib once in a while. i have extra hdmi.

I still say use the Sony for now until you have the minimum of what you need. Don't waste your money on that temporary crap. Save it for the new rig.

gave me good excuse to get out of house, and buy me new micro fiber towels :D

almost bought me pineapple express on blu-ray tonight

    advice for you to consider.

do some of your homework on anything and everything home theater related before you purchase something. it'll save you from making some valuable mistakes.

this is a good place to ask for advice and get your learning on BEFORE you purchase something, not after the fact.

If you have Monster Cables to throw away...Feel free to send them to me. I'm trying to get a bunch of them together, so that I can attach them all. I need a new clothesline.;)
