Sorry all for the excess of questions, but I'm new to this.

Just setup my polks:
2 Monitor 30's
2 Monitor 50's
1 Monitor CS1

My audessey settings came up to 60 hz for all three. Is that a correct setting? They sound fine, but it seems I have to turn it up pretty high to hear quiet dialogue from the center channel? Are there preferred settings?
The receiver is an Onkyo SR606...room size about 16x20.

The quiet dialogue wouldn't be from the low crossover point. There's an option to turn up the center channel level in the 606. Go to the speaker settings and manually turn up the center channel.

Go to the setup menu, and select speaker settings. In the speaker settings menu, select "level cal". Go to the center channel setting and turn it up a few notches.

You might also want to look into getting the CS2 center channel eventually. I've heard a lot of people complain about the same problems with the CS1, and their problems were remedied by switching to the CS2.

60 is probably a good point for all those speakers. The more universally recommended point is 80hz for all though. That's what I have mine all set at on my 606. You've just got to play with it to find out what you prefer.

I considered the CS2, but was told the CS1 was a better match for the other speakers I have. Perhaps that was bad information. I think it will work out well. The 60hz settings have nothing to do with volume? If I change them to 80hz what exactly will it affect?

    Thanks for the help!

The 60 hz setting affects the crossover point. With a 60 hz crossover point, all of the frequencies below 60 hz(bass) are cut off and go to only the sub. Turning it up to 80 hz wouldn't affect the volume level, but the crossover point. Turning it up to 80 hz would change the "cutoff" point to 80 hz, and everything below that would be coming through your sub.

In a home theater setup that's really how you want it. Ideally the majority of your bass should be coming through the subwoofer.

It could have a subtle affect on volume due to freeing the speaker up from having to produce those frequencies, but what you need to do to get more volume out of it is turn the level up.

That does sound like some bad info on your part, the CS2 would match up with your speakers just fine. They're all voice matched to one another, and if anything the CS2 would be the better choice. I'm guessing by turning the level up a bit though, you should be happy with it.

+1 again Curt you sly dog. I had a very similar problem recently with my CS2 and turns out it was at -2, whilst all the rest of my speakers were at +6. I changed the settings to my CS2 to match the rest of my speakers and problem solved. The CS1 is a good match for your speakers, but I think the CS2 would have been a better one for the job, try turning it up and see if that fixes your problem.

I had the same problem and I have a CS2...

I did what everyone here is telling you to do, turn up the center channel yourself.
