Looking at buying a PSW505

I've been having all kinds of trouble with my Cerwin Vega CLS-12S lately and I'm most likely going to return it. I was looking at a PSW505 to replace it. It's on Amazon for about $250 not shipped. I don't have a ton of room in the budget so that's where I'm gonna have to be (price wise). How is this sub? Any problems that I should know about? The CV randomly turns on and off during use, nothing like that right?

The PSW505 is actually not too bad. It's a nice slot loaded subwoofer with no known issues that I'm aware of. I'd keep on looking, Circuit City for example, may be able to beat that price on some clearance.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Ok, I'll look around but I'm leery of buying from Circuit City since they won't be around for too much longer if I have a problem with it and need to return it.

All you need is a receipt of purchase. When they go out of business, all warranty claims can be handled directly with the manufacturer.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Really? Than I may actually have to take a look over there, cause they actually had one playing when I was there last and you could hear it from all the way across the store, now thats my kinda sub.

I have the 505, and have been using it for about a year now with great results. Sometimes J&R will have free shipping deals, where it's currently priced at $250.
I am actually going to be comparing my 505 to my new microPro 1000. Haven't had the time to really compare the two, but hope to over the weekend. Goal is to have two microPro's for the main AV system.
If you can get a good deal on the 505, I recommend that you buy it without hesitation. Regarding the CC deals, I went to one store last weekend, and thought their prices were still too high, with the minimal 10% discount on most stuff... Better prices online at Amazon!

I got the psw 505 because of the reviews and I can say that Im not disappointed. It is powerful. My only gripe is that I find myself getting up to adjust the volume between HT and music. Perhaps I need to learn a bit more about adjusting my system given I am fairly new to appreciating a better quality sound. I thought about trading up to something a notch up given my love of good clean bass. However, the better ones seem like they start at least a grand more.
I got mine from J&R, the price was good, but I really dont like buying from these folks because if you have a problem, they really dont like returns of any kind.
Stay away from Circuit City, they are going out of business for a good reason! I was in there just yesterday to see if there was anything to pick from the carcass, everything was 10% off outrageous to begin with!

Cheers, and my thoughts exactly about Circuit City. Amazon it is. Thanks.

CC going out of business has nothing to do with warranty coverage....just convenience.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Well I actually went there today and 1) They only had a handful of subs, a Polk (Not PSW505) and a few Klipschs and 2) They jacked the price up 20% before they put everything up for 20% off.
