Wow...the clarity is amazing and the power makes a big difference in the sound! Running them off a 20 year old Yamaha MX600 that is pre-amped off the Sony Receiver. This system really sings now! My wife says enough is enough. I will take some pics and post them here when I get everything dialed in! ;)

Hi bartimus and welcome. How are you biamping?I believe the MX600 is just a 2 channel so are you using the recievers amp section to drive the top end?

No, I am using the A and B outputs from the MX600 Amp. I can tell you the difference in clarity is amazing...I forgot how clean the Yamaha amp's sound is and very powerful too. I thought about doing what you said, but thought I'd give this route a try first...here are some pics.

Ah OK, what you are doing is bi wiring, the A and B outputs are driven by the same channels so there is no increase in the amount of power delivered to the speaker. It would be same as connecting both sets of speaker wires to the A terminals.

    Nice setup btw.

Gotchya...I understand what you are saying now. Anyway, the sound stage seems better and more accurate, and the bass seems tighter and less "muddy" if you know what I mean. The current set up really shines with either music or movies...especially really action packed movies like Rambo. The new Sony Blu-ray really shines with both audio and video performance. I look forward to hearing a Blu-Ray disc recorded in Dolby True HD. I am very satisfied with the RTI A9's and how they perform. At first, I thought they seemed just a tad "bright" but they seem to have mellowed a bit and after the bi-wire operation, they sing beautifully!

I was a little apprehensive at adding the Yamaha amp, but after getting it all set up, I am really happy with how it sounds. I pulled up the specs online, as I had lost the original owners manual, and was surprised how much dynamic headroom it has. It may not have been the most esoteric stuff, but Yamaha made some really quality stuff in their heydey of hi-fi! I've had this amp for 20 years now and it sounds better than new. It came out of storage and I am really glad I added it to the system.

My next addition will likely be a more powerful sub...we'll see...the wifey says no more money! Just laid out over $7000 for the new Polks, Receiver and Blu-Ray...wish I had known about this site before ordering the speakers, as I did not know about the ebay store they have...could have saved some money! Oh well...I guess I just did my part on supporting this lowsy economy!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I was reading another thread that caught my interest on the Emotiva XPA2 amp, so I visited their website. Nice amp fo r the price, and I see a lot of signatures here with their equipment. I may have to look into one, especially if they come up with another special price again.
