I don't listen to his music, but from what I've gathered, Kanye West has a huge "im the most important person in the world" complex. He seems to think that he's the hands down most inspirational, and most brilliant musician that has ever lived, which really is not the case.

He's racist? Really? Considering that about 90 percent of his fan base are white college kids, I would really like to see some proof.

Jesus, freakin' christ.... does this forum even attempt to hide its outright hatred of anything other than Allison Krauss?

I could see where he gets the 'racist' thing though. He's the same **** bag who said in a telethon that GW hates black people. The idiot also got an unqualified black doctor to perform his mom's surgery...and she died because of it.

I agree... he's not the sharpest tool. And "douchey"? I would have to agree with that, as well. His behaviour at Bonaroo last year is a testament to that.

I just think some of these comments are fairly transparent.

It's funny to read the comments about him being racist and hating his music and how he is full of himself because of his name change.

If you dont like his music dont listen to it.

I neither know nor do I care if he is or isnt racist. I dont have the time in my life to get all worked up about it one way or the other. I like some of his music other songs I dont. Like every artist I know some are appealing to me others arent.

As far as his name change goes it's most likely a marketing ploy and one that actually works. It puts his name in the news.

How many people would remember Sean Combs for any period of time? Now how long will you remember P Diddy?

That's as blatant of a misstatement as what you are accusing some of the posters of making. There is a WIDE variety of music discussed here...some of which I despise...some of which I like. The fact that many like Krauss and don't like rap may have more to do with generational issues than the innuendo you "appear" to be making.
    snow wrote:

I don't. I don't like that particular genre which is widely encompased as "Rap". I've heard it, I just really do not like it. This is not anything racist or anti-youth. Just not my cup of tea. Just like I will never own anything by Kanye West, I will never own any music by Norah Jones, Frank Zappa, Metallica or Miles Davis. They are all considered to be talented artists by many...who quite frankly...I don't care for. My musical tastes are wide and quite eclectic as evidenced by my LP/CD collection. I'm have music some of you have never heard of and I'm sure some of my favorite artists would sound like "fingernails on a chalkboard" to some. That is the great thing about music...there is a great variety...something for everyone.

The conversation about Kanye seemed to have more to do with his non-musical actions. He evidently likes the spotlight and when one does that they need to be ready to accept responses to what ever that that light may reveal...good or bad.
