Q: Remove tweeter from MMC690

I have just purchased a set of MMC690 and MMC650 to install in my wife's SUV. The MMC690 go the front and MMC650 the back.
I was wondering if there is any easy way to remove the tweeter (and tweeter and mid in one unit) out of the woofer case and install it on the dash opening already in the car. By doing that, the woofer housing would fit better (thinner) too.
BTW, that's how the OEM speakers are installed anyway.
Anyone have experience on doing that? Any drawback?
